Truth About University Life - Good and Bad

JS
6.3 /10

Well known for its high academic profile and school culture with numerous clubs and daily events hosted by a multicultural and diverse set of clubs. I also heard of the many positive facilities that exist including libraries and extracurricular events.

Course Curriculum :

The course curriculum for my current program would be improved if it were more hands on. I currently find it to be highly theoretical and I\'m learning more in my placements than during the actual class.

Exams :

No exams were taken to get into this university. I took the MCAT in the University program and got 32 a few years back.

Placement :

The placements are limited. I got extremely lucky with my placement but it is outside the scope of my program. The job opportunities are also scarce because it is a very new program and the jobs associated don't really exist in industry and at many times, need to be made.

Internship :

Yes. I am in a program with a co-op. I had an excellent experience with a salary of about $28,000 over 8 months. I learned a great deal and know what I want to do in the future. However, I know this is not true for most peers in my program.

Fees :

My program costs around $40,000 for two years in terms of tuition. However, some events do require payment out of pocket. This, alongside with living costs make it a costly program. Living costs are around $20,000 in a single year with rent.

Examination Structure :

Many exams in the first year but it tries to change it to a project based work load in order to allow students to find their strengths and show their understanding better. I had about 5 exams in total in my first year and in my second year I have 2 exams.

Faculty :

It's a good place for education and it does promise on having many events to keep one busy and providing a variety of options. There are so many people to get to know which is an amazing aspect.

Hostel :

I had off-campus accommodation and have financed it through myself. In our city, the rental costs are expensive so I take loans and try to work. The university has not assisted with this. I have not taken on campus accommodations.
