Campus life

6.5 /10

It is known to be a prestigious school and I would like a challenge. Everyone had told me that it would be a hard college to get into and I wanted to prove to myself that I would be able to get into this college. I want to be able to compete with the many students who get accepted.

Course Curriculum :

It's pretty good but I wish we could do more things hands-on than watching a lecture for a few hours. I like it when teachers give us a little quiz after the session is done to test our knowledge. They won't count it for marks so that's even better.

Placement :

The campus always posts on its website the various jobs offered around campus and off campus. I recently applied for an on-campus job within the food industry. I got the job right away and help out putting out food for students who live in residence. I find the job unique because I get to walk around and not sit behind a desk all day like in my previous jobs. I get to refill the food and make sure every food station has plates and cutlery.

Events :

Mental Health Awareness Day was celebrated by our campus. A few speakers came to our school to share their experiences with mental health. The struggles they faced while they were in school and how they sought help to become the person they are today.

Fees :

Basically, we have a tuition fee and the tuition fee gets paid off by OSAP which is Ontario's government funding.

Scholarship :

During the first year I had the school provide me a scholarship for being the first one in my family to go to university. I applied on the school website and then had an appointment with the registrars to talk about my expenses. Then they calculate and finalize an estimate of how much to give me. I got about $1500 during the first year.

Examination Structure :

The exam structure varies per course or even program. Since I am taking a lot of of English courses most of the exams are essay based. I would be required to do all the readings for the course and prepare for one or two essay questions the professor would provide for us beforehand or even be prepared for the day of the exam.

Faculty :

Overall the faculty of my college is pretty supporting, I have reliable registrars I could talk to about my academic life as well as my mental health.
