Ryerson review

A
8.7 /10

The best program, the social side is awesome and location. I love downtown Toronto and Ryerson is right in the core of the downtown area. In comparison with the criminology programs at other schools, Ryerson offered the best course variety and extracurriculars.

Course Curriculum :

Awesome. The material touches on several areas of the criminal justice system from law to victimology to police work to social work to crime prevention. The course curriculum is very well-rounded and provides students with the best possible education.

Exams :

I did not need to do an exam to be admitted to my university. The only exams I had to take was the EQAO in grade 9 and the OSSLT in the 10th grade.

Placement :

My program doesn't offer a placement. But there are constantly job fairs and luncheons to meet employers for the various fields involved in the faculty. From what I have heard from other students the placements and jobs that they have acquired while at Ryerson have been phenomenal.

Internship :

The university does provide internships in numerous programs and faculties, but my particular program there is no required internship or placement that is needed to graduate so I am currently not in an internship position.

Events :

We celebrate a lot of indigenous cultural events that emphasize the diversity among students and staff of all ethnic, religious, and sexual groups. The school regularly holds pow wows and events about the certain group's history, like last semester there was a seminar to learn about Jewish history.

Fees :

We pay a fee to the student union as well as to our direct program so that we can be members of the union of our particular program.

Scholarship :

I am currently on OSAP. I have not received any financial aid from Ryerson directly but I do have external scholarships that I apply to my feed.

Examination Structure :

Exams are well-formed, usually ranging from a mix of short and long answer and true or false and multiple choices find that the exams (at least that I have taken) are not extremely difficult to the point where students won?t pass but perfectly structured and offer a challenging exercise of the brain.

Faculty :

I am in the faculty of arts and I find that they are very supportive and willing to help students at any moment notice. There are also several opportunities for jobs and volunteer work through this faculty.

Hostel :

I was never in residence at Ryerson. I am not quite sure how the residence life is conducted or managed at Ryerson but I haven't heard anything overly bad about it either. One thing I'll say is that it is really difficult to differentiate residences from regular buildings.
