Amanda's Review on Laurentian University

It was a small campus with lots of outdoor activities in the area. It was far enough away from home but not too far that my parents would not be able to visit me. It had smaller classes so you were able to talk with profs and you weren't just another number in the pool.

Placement :

Final 2 placements were amazing and it is where you learned most of what you needed to know for becoming a teacher.

Fees :

It was expensive. Roughly $500 per class and then you needed to pay for your living as this was not a local college so most people from far away and lived on campus when possible as it's a 15-minute drive to the main road in town and the buses were great. Although we were provided a bus pass with tuition.

Examination Structure :

The exams were good and if you had multiple exams on one day you were able to get them moved. There were not too many people writing at the same time and no one could leave before the first hour or with only 30 minutes left, to minimize distractions.

Faculty :

Some faculty were good and there for the students for whatever they needed. Some faculty were simply there for the paycheque and did not have the student's best interest in mind when teaching us or dealing with personal matters.

Hostel :

I stayed on-campus for all 5 years. Moving off-campus was not feasible without a car and I didn't have a car or the funds to buy a car. Living on-campus with a roommate was also cheaper than shared accommodations in a house.
