Physics attempts to understand nature in both its greatest simplicity and its most uncontrollable complexity. Physicists are model-builders of everything from the architecture of the cosmos, to the substructure of the nuclei, including the complexity of life, and even the hidden patterns of the stock market.

The central mission of the Physics program is to provide undergraduates with a rigorous, awe-inspiring and hands-on education, motivated by cutting-edge research and coupled with one-on-one mentor adapted to each student. Unlike major research universities, our undergraduates play a principal role in the nationally-recognized research programs of our outstanding faculty. We offer students unique opportunities to interact with leading researchers in physics, travel and present at research conferences nationwide, and publish top-notch scientific papers.
