After your first semester at SLU, you can apply to major in education without pursuing teaching certification. An education degree is a valuable asset for a number of careers related to education, and complements many other degrees as a second major.
Saint Louis University's undergraduate degree in education without certification instills leadership qualities including risk-taking, civic responsibility and ethical character.
Students are required to take 15 credit hours in education as determined by the department of education. In addition, students have a choice of 17 credit hours of electives in education and are also required to take 12-18 related credit hours as determined by the department of education. Courses recommended as education electives have limited hours of fieldwork.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit all transcripts of secondary work along with english translations
- Submit resume of activities
- Submit letters of recommendations
English Language Requirements:
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- Duolingo: minimum 110
- SAT: minimum 550 in evidence based writing and reading
- ACT: minimum 21 in English section
- Pearson: minimum 54
- TOEFL: minimum 80 in IBT, minimum 550 in PBT
