Bachelor of Science [B.S] (Manufacturing Engineering)
Field of Study:
₹32.8 L/Yr
- Manufacturing engineering involves designing, analyzing, and applying manufacturing methods and processes so that quality products can be produced at a competitive cost. It is the manufacturing engineer who is most responsible for the efficient production of quality products. Manufacturing engineering is one of the fastest-growing engineering disciplines and is making a significant impact on the United States' ability to design and manufacture a high-quality product that competes in a global marketplace.
- The industry has a pressing need for manufacturing engineers because the technology required to manufacture products has become increasingly sophisticated. Businesses need people who can use computers to design and manufacture products in ways that increase productivity, improve quality, and reduce costs.
- Engineering science courses are fundamental to all engineering disciplines. Static and dynamic modeling, the strength of materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and electric circuit analysis are some of the areas studied. Manufacturing engineering courses give students an in-depth study of modern methods of designing and manufacturing quality products. These courses prepare students to select appropriate materials, processes, and methods to manufacture a quality product at a competitive cost. Engineering design is integrated throughout the curriculum. Students learn to develop engineering thinking, which combines art and science, intuition and logic, and observation and experimentation. Students will come up with a solution for an engineering problem, investigate the process and raw materials needed, and build a working model. Senior Design Project represents the culmination of design integration within the curriculum. This is a capstone, year-long experience in which seniors select and complete open-ended projects, many of which involve working with industry. Students work in teams, select and define a manufacturing problem, conduct research, develop and evaluate solutions, present chosen designs, and implement the final design. Past projects for local industries and businesses have included designing a quality control lab and workstations for the disabled.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
To apply for first-year admission as an international student, submit the following documents:
- A recommendation is not required but may be provided on your behalf. This recommendation can be in the form of a letter; a school report completed by your school official; or a teacher evaluation. The recommendation must be submitted directly from a school official or teacher.
- Completion of formal secondary education in a pre-university curriculum
- This education must culminate in the award of a diploma or the issuance of a leaving certificate or matriculation certificate generally recognized as the educational qualification necessary for admission to higher studies.
- Academic records include all secondary school studies, beginning with 9th grade through the most current available at the time of application. Proof of secondary school graduation is required before enrolling at Miami. All documents not originally issued in English must include an English translation.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- If a student's native language is not English, they are required to submit scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Duolingo English Test, Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, or provide alternative evidence of English language proficiency.
- While a valid TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or PTE score can satisfy Miami University's English language proficiency requirement, this requirement can also be met through the following alternatives:
- The student’s country of origin is also an English-speaking country and English is your native language.
- An associate or bachelor's degree from a U.S. institution of higher education
- Course equivalency of Miami University's English composition requirement at another U.S. university or community college (not English as a Second Language course). students must provide an official transcript showing a minimum grade of C or better.
- Completion of ELS Language Center's Level 112. (Students who complete ELS Level 109 may be considered for conditional admission to the university through the ACE Program.)
- Enrollment in AP English Language and Composition or AP English Literature in a US high school or high school that follows the US curriculum.
- Enrollment in IB English A at either the Higher or Standard Level as part of a full IB Diploma program.
- Graduation from a U.S. high school following three years of continuous enrollment will lead to placement in the ACE program unless additional proof of English Proficiency is also submitted.
- Most international students are not required to provide an ACT or SAT score, but they may use the ACT or SAT to satisfy English language proficiency requirements.
Note: Miami has chosen to make test scores optional for students applying to the university through Spring 2023 to ensure equitable opportunity for admission, scholarships, and honors programs due to the COVID-19.
