Bachelor of Science [B.S] [Athletic Training] From James Madison University

We appreciate your interest in the Athletic Training  Program (ATP) at James Madison University (JMU). If you are a potential student, we hope you will give our program strong consideration. Athletic Training is a major within the Department of Health Professions. A dedicated student can complete the Athletic Training Curriculum in four years, however, completing a second major or meeting prerequisites for a pre-professional allied health program may require additional semesters and/or summer school.

Meeting the criteria for application does not guarantee admission into the program, however, if you maintain solid grades (B or better) and complete all of the pre-requisites, you have an excellent chance of being admitted to the program. We select students based on academic achievement, successful completion of the pre-professional phase (including the observation/volunteer experience), appropriate completion of all application requirements, written and oral communication throughout the pre-professional phase and application process, and  performance during the structured admissions interview.

Career prospects

Traditionally, athletic trainers have worked with high school, college and professional athletic teams.

However, today, athletic trainers can be found working almost anywhere people are physically active. This includes:
