Scholarly research, strong professor-student mentoring, high-quality instruction and professional community service are the foundation of the department.The department’s facilities for research and graduate training occur in the Life Sciences Complex; Science Research Building; and the Environmental Education, Science and Technology Building. The Life Sciences Complex, which has Gold-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for sustainability, includes an aquatics laboratory and four climate-controlled rooftop research greenhouses.

Academic Eligibility:
The students will need to meet the admission requirements for the graduate school and the following program requirements
- Completed program application
- GRE scores
- Official transcripts from all schools attended
- Three letters of recommendation
- 3.00 GPA in the undergraduate degree for admission to the master's program.
Language Requirements:
This university accepts any one of the measures as proof of English language proficiency.
