The Philosophy Department curriculum covers most areas in contemporary philosophical problems as well as most of the major periods in the history of philosophy. The department is especially strong in philosophy of mind and philosophy of the life sciences. Please consult the department webpage for information on the strengths of individual faculty.
Students in the MA program do a year of coursework and write a thesis. The degree can usually be earned within one year (including summer quarter). Students in a terminal MA program are not normally eligible for financial aid awarded by the department.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants should hold a baccalaureate degree (or higher) from a college or university.
- Students should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or more and have at least a B average in undergraduate course work
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission to this program.
- Submission of GRE or GMAT scores is required.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Completed a master’s degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
