Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts at The University of Chicago is a 2-year program.
It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
The program helps students to develop the skills and expertise to support a lifetime of art-making while studying the historical context and significance of cultural artifacts.
The two-year MFA program is distinguished in its focus on work of the pluralism of today’s art-making practices relate to one another, as well as for creating conversations that bridge the Department of Visual Arts and other areas of study at the University of Chicago.
Students work in sculpture, photography, painting, installation, performance, video, and new media with this interdisciplinary program.
Students will explore not only the artistic issues pertinent to their practice but also the theoretical, social, and historical issues that intersect with it.
First and second-year students collaborate to articulate their work and to sharpen their critical thinking and writing skills.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students must complete a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.
A GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 is required to be eligible for the program.
Submission of GRE score is not required in this program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
Or, completed a master degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
Or, completed a 3-year UG degree with a first-class from an accredited institution

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
