We strive to provide students with a strong foundational knowledge of principles of curriculum and instruction and the opportunity to explore concepts from the field of educational assessment while keeping in mind the needs of a wide spectrum of unique learners who are situated within diverse learning environments (inside and outside of classrooms in PK-12 schools).The MEd program is designed for individuals who want to broaden their knowledge of curriculum and instruction in support of improving education in the United States. The program is designed to help our students make a difference through knowledge, reflection and action. This rigorous, graduate-level program is designed to deepen understanding within curriculum and instruction and may also include optional areas of emphasis. These optional areas are English Education, Gifted Education, Instructional Technology, Mathematics Education, Science Education, and Social Studies Education. Those who already hold initial licensure may complete coursework needed for endorsements in Gifted Education, ESOL, or Algebra I.A successful MEd candidate is planning a career that builds upon tenets of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, and Diversity and is interested in theory and conceptual work. Candidates see opportunities beyond graduation to analyze and apply ideas about Curriculum and Instruction in a variety of educational venues, including classrooms.
