Truman State University: Review by Amber

A
9.0 /10

They gave me a full ride scholarship plus a $4,000 stipend to study abroad which was a deal I couldn't turn down. They only give out 12 per year so it was a pretty big deal. It was a small size which seemed to be a good transition from high school to college.

Course Curriculum :

Truman is tough and you have to put in a lot of time for straight A's. Student's mental health often suffers as a result of the rigor of Truman with students often pulling all-nighters to get massive amounts of work done.

Exams :

ACT was the only exam I needed to take. I did not take any university exams until senior year taking a test for each of my majors.

Fees :

Total cost is a combination of in-state or out of state tuition, housing costs, meal plan, a charge for each class within your major, and other fees such as athletic fee, sustainability fee, student activities fee, and a fee relating to the health center services.

Examination Structure :

This varies for each class with some classes having only multiple choice tests and others being only short answer or essay style. They have a no cheating policy in place but students still get around it.

Faculty :

Faculty is a spectrum. Some faculty are super nice and helpful and take time to learn every student's name while others seem to put in minimal work on making connections with students.

Hostel :

I lived on campus for 4 years because my scholarship covered it.
