I attended Suffolk County Community College. Because I had a high GPA and participated in outside activities, I received a scholarship to attended LIM College. This was an extension of the stay on Long Island scholarship program. The goal of the program is to have students stay in New York for their continued schooling. I was searching for fashion business schools and this was one of the few choices.

Course Curriculum :

I enjoyed the program, but I wish it was more specific.

Exams :

I chose fashion merchandising mainly because it combines fashion and business together. I also already received various credits needed in the community college I attended previously. This program was the most popular one in the college and I felt the school overall focused more on this program. There were various classes that applied to this program.

Placement :

The college hosts a job fair twice a year to help both current students and alum to find careers. Some jobs offered are associates, assistant buyers, showroom assistants, and various entry level jobs in the fashion industry.

Internship :

LIM College requires students to get and complete at least 3 internships. They do not help you obtain these internships and does not require for them to be paid. I personally was only paid hourly for one of my internships.

Events :

LIM College participates in LGBT events and women?s rights events.

Fees :

I was awarded the New York State Presidential Transfer Scholarship. This was for the $50,000 two year program I was in. I received this scholarship from Suffolk County Community College. I needed to have a GPA of 3.8 or higher, participate in extracurricular activities, and want to attend LIM College.

Scholarship :

I received the New York State Presidential Transfer Scholarship.

Examination Structure :

Most classes have midterms and finals but not all.

Faculty :

Some professors were amazing at their jobs and had a lot of experience and knowledge of the fashion industry. While others were not meant for teaching and just needed a job.

Hostel :

I commuted used the Long Island railroad. I commuted from Eastern Long Island to Manhattan. Living in New York City is too expensive and commuting was way less costly. Commuting has many challenges especially weather and mechanical issues causing delays.
