Purdue is well-known for its excellent Computer Science program, and I knew that many internship opportunities would be available to me at the school. I also liked its large campus and close proximity to my family.
Course Curriculum :
The course curriculum at Purdue is extremely rigorous. This is especially true for math and computer science courses. Many people I know have retaken at least one class throughout their time at Purdue.
Exams :
I took both the ACT and SAT. I believe I received a 29 on the ACT. I can't recall my SAT score, but I believe it was in the upper-middle range.
Placement :
Purdue hosts many job fairs throughout the school year. Some are intended for certain majors, and some are more general. Companies large and small come to Purdue job fairs to meet with students and offer both full-time and internship opportunities.
Fees :
I paid for both tuition, housing, and a meal plan at Purdue. Not including external expenses, this comes to about $22000 a year.
Examination Structure :
Exam structure varies widely across classes and subjects. Generally, I would say most classes have evening exams outside of typical class times. Exams are typically one to two hours. I have personally experienced live coding, short-answer, essay, and multiple-choice exams.
Faculty :
I think Purdue employs excellent faculty, and I have a lot of respect for the professors I have encountered. My Computer Science professors have all been well established in their field and extremely knowledgeable, and tend to be very good at explaining subject material.
Hostel :
Purdue has a number of dormitory buildings available to its students. Male, female, and co-ed buildings are offered and vary widely in price and amenities. Single, double, and triple occupant rooms are available depending on the specific dorm. There are also a large number of apartment buildings on and off-campus.
