USF Experience

GL
9.0 /10

I opted for USF because it had the direct-entry nursing program that I had been aiming for as well as being one of the tops in the nation. There are only a few direct-entry nursing programs in California so USF was a top choice for me. As a low-income student, I was able to apply to a majority of my colleges without fees and USF had already given me an application fee exemption due to my GPA and test scores. In the end, I chose USF from other schools like UC Santa Barbara and Azusa Pacific University because I felt that USF provided me the best of everything and provided me with enough financial assistance to be able to afford the education.

Exams :

SAT- 1370, Act- 31. I opted for this nursing program because of how rigorous it was and touted as a nursing program. I believe that a high level of GPA and test scores are needed to be accepted as the acceptance rate was 15%. The nursing program is one of the best in the nation and sets itself from many nursing programs because of its ability to allow for direct-entry nursing programs.

Placement :

The job opportunities at USF are renowned because of their mandate for students to have at least 3 internships before graduation. These placements are important towards a student and USF is beneficial in finding these types of internships for students. They make it important and put much more emphasis on having job experience than other universities.

Internship :

It does, but I have not participated in an on-campus job yet. I have been offered a job position however and the process to apply was easy and straight forward. The interview process was quick and easy and response times were quick.

Fees :

The tuition is $50000 and they have different levels of academic scholarships depending on your GPA and essay. I have been awarded the presidential scholarship which gives me $10000 per year and it was based on a GPA above 3.5. I have heard that there may be full scholarships given out but those would require at least a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a stellar test score. I believe scholarships may be available for international applicants but I would not be sure of that.

Faculty :

The ratios are very nice and are around 20:5 for professors to students. These ratios allow for great bonds between students and professors and the school is quite small and meshed together.

Hostel :

I have not formed yet but will be this fall. The arrangements are quite tight and I have a triple dorm. There is a wide selection of food and also, filtered water inside the dorms for our convenience. The food is convenient to get an overall, from what I have seen, everything seems great.
