Emily Titsworth Review at Illinois College, Jacksonville | Collegedunia

A Glimpse into Illinois College

ET
6.5 /10

I chose to study at IC because of the scholarships I received, the location, and the faculty to student ratio. I came from a small high school, so I wanted to go to a college that was not going to be too overwhelming in size.

Course Curriculum :

The curriculum is fine. I wish that there were more options for courses in my major, but the school won't give them more money to expand, which is part of the issue of limiting classes. I also wish there were some different general education requirements because I felt that some of the requirements were a waste of time and that I didn't learn anything in the class.

Exams :

The only required exam that I took was the ACT during my junior year of high school. When I applied, listing the score was optional.

Fees :

Since Illinois College is a private liberal arts institution, the tuition and fees are the same for every student regardless of where they live. Tuition is high, but the college is good about giving academic scholarships to help with affordability.

Examination Structure :

As an English major, I rarely had to take exams. When I did, though, I did not like the final exam schedule. There were times where I had to stay a few extra days because I had one exam at the end of the week when all of my other exams were at the beginning.

Faculty :

The faculty are some of the most helpful people I have met. My academic advisor has been there to help me all throughout my academic career. The faculty genuinely care about the students and will do their best to help them so long as the students are respectful and actually try to succeed.
