Palak Jain Review at Arizona State University [ASU], Tempe | Collegedunia

Hard work pays off

PJ
7.3 /10

I got into the honors college, which is a top honors college in the U.S. I was also selected for the Grand challeneges scholars program, so these factors helped me choose ASU as my university. I was also getting a good scholarship.

Course Curriculum :

The course is pretty updated and very similar to what Indian universities have. But something great about the University is that there are many research opportunities for students, I myself am doing research in visual cognition with a noble prize winner researcher.

Exams :

My scores: TOEFL 107, Speaking 30, Writing 30, Listening 20, Reading 27. I also gave SAT 1390/1500.

Placement :

We have career fairs every week. There are companies like amazon, google, boeing coming on campus for recruitments. We also have a career services department that helps students with interview preparations, cv/resume reviews. And a handshake profile for students to connect with companies.

Internship :

I have not. But I plan to do internship this summer, I have applied for many internships but I haven't heard back from them yet. I also plan to do study abroad next summer where I will go to spain for my research.

Fees :

It is $22000 (rounded)

Scholarship :

Yes, I have received the New American University Scholar, it is a merit based scholarship. It is for $14,000/year.

Faculty :

It dependes from class to class. As I am in the honors college, our faculty ratio is typically 20(students) : 1 (faculty). But if we consider non honors students the ration is incredibly different. It can be 100:1 in some classes. Dr. Donald Fette my human event (humanity class) professor, helped greatly with improving my writing skills.

Campus Life :

The campus life is awesome. We have 4 libraries, and there are more than 1000 clubs on campus. I am in 8 clubs, with an officer in two clubs. There are many opportunities for atheltes as our college has one of the best coaches, and even plays nationals.

Hostel :

I am in a sharing room right now, but in this fall(2023) I will be moving to a apartment style room where I will have my private room and bathroom. I will also have a kitchen and in room laundry. Right now I have laundry and community spaces on every alternate floor of my building .
