This was the only college I applied too. Along with that, I chose the college because it has a great history department that is focused on making the most of a students education and that was important to me.
Course Curriculum :
I feel like the course Curriculum was great for the core classes required for undergraduates. For the History department alone the lower level classes were great they really gave you the foundation you needed to do great in any of the upper-level courses.
Exams :
I took the ACT twice during high school so that I had a good score to get into Saginaw Valley State University.
Placement :
The job placements or opportunities are good if you were to go into teaching at a K-12 setting. But beyond that, a masters degree would be the best route to help you teach or work at a greater capacity when it comes to working in the field of History.
Internship :
Yes, my college did. But I never had to do one for my degree and I was happy and sad about it at the same time. I was happy because I didn't have to do it. But sad because I feel like it would have offered skills that would have benefited me in finding a job in my field.
Events :
Saginaw Valley State University is a very diverse college so there was always something happening. The campus celebrated all cultures and sexual orientations. As a college, it was great knowing they were so accepting.
Fees :
The fees and other tuition costs were stupid. They charged you for every little thing and I think that if there were not so many fees and that the cost was lower universities would not suffer from a lack of enrollment each year. Fees and costs are what really make or break a university.
Scholarship :
Each year I took out loans and filled out FASFA. Each year is a was a pain to do but it helped when my grants helped cover what my loans did not. The sad part is it out me in a lot of debt. But it?s ok and I got a degree out of it that looks good to future employers.
Examination Structure :
For History exams alone they were a lot of analysis and taking very broad concepts and addressing all aspects with great detail so that it showed you had a well-composed understanding of all parts of the history involved during the course.
Faculty :
The University faculty was great. The History department alone was amazing never had a bad professor and they really cared about your learning experience.
Hostel :
I lived on campus for two years and I loved my first year. My roommates were awesome and I made life long friends. But during my second year, I got a crappy roommate and it was the reason I decided to rent an apartment with my then girlfriend. Since then I have lived with her for five years now and I am happy we chose to do so.
