Taha Hasan Review at Rice University, Houston | Collegedunia

Growth - Academically and Personally

TH
7.0 /10

With a strong and rigorous STEM program, good reputation, positive outcomes of alumni, and good reviews from current students, rated one of the happiest colleges in the US.

Course Curriculum :

The CS curriculum is very updated and rigorous with a few exceptions. There are a lot of opportunities for research experience and industrial exposure.

Exams :

My scores: are ACT: 36, SAT Subject Tests: Math II: 800, Physics: 800, Chemistry: 790.

Placement :

The post-study outcomes are generally really good, especially for CS students. A lot of CS grads get internships and jobs in Google, Microsoft e.t.c.

Internship :

No, I didn't get an internship.

Events :

There are clubs for pretty much anything on campus, and if there aren't, you can start one! There are good sports facilities (the Rec Center is mostly fully booked but you can get a spot if you try), there are always new buildings being built and the WiFi is pretty good too.

Fees :

Tuition fees are irrelevant as if you are admitted they will only ask you to pay the amount that you can pay according to your family's financial ability. If you don't get aid tuition is around $49000 annually.

Scholarship :

I receive need-based financial aid for approx. $67,000 per year. You need to mention in your application that you need aid and fill out the CSS Profile.

Faculty :

The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:6. The faculty is generally very approachable. Dr. Stephen Wong is an amazing math teacher that makes it really easy to learn subjects like multivariable calculus and linear algebra. Dr. Luay Nakhlekh, now the Dean of Engineering, is another amazing teacher in the CS department who teaches a famously tough but rewarding course in discrete math.

Hostel :

There are residential colleges on campus but a lot of students live off campus too. Rent, board, and other expenses probably cost around $15000 annually.
