Katelynn Baker Review at University Of Memphis, Memphis | Collegedunia

I'm So Glad for this University

KB
8.3 /10

The large campus, but small class sizes. The ratio of students to the professor was comfortable for being able to network and make connections. The class times were easily manageable. Most importantly the tuition was cheaper than my home state.

Course Curriculum :

The curriculum was manageable and actually pertained to interesting topics. It also focused on the way language is changing and how the francophone world is so diverse. It was very focused on the present day with the ideas of past literature to emphasize modern problems.

Exams :

The scores for the SAT is 1560 and ACT is 32. I didn't take other exams, nor do I remember specific scores from each individual section.

Internship :

No, not through the University itself, but outside internships are encouraged and can be used toward credit for graduation. I did not participate in this while I was a student. Most people enjoyed being able to do an internship for credit.

Fees :

It does mention online course fees which no longer exists and the calculator also factors in transportation and other needs.

Examination Structure :

The exam structure varies with the professor. For foreign language, it is mostly written exams, but in other courses such as general education courses (science, basic math, psychology) multiple choice is used more frequently.

Faculty :

The French department itself is small but very helpful. They want to see their students succeed. Other faculty members in other departments seemed to be the same.

Hostel :

I used student loans to pay for an apartment off campus since it was overall cheaper for a year-round student. There are many options for those who prefer a dorm as well as on-campus apartments. I did stay in an on-campus apartment for a year and enjoyed how close it was to classes and having a separate room.
