Mikayla Bradley Review at Linfield College, McMinnville | Collegedunia

It's a good school

MB
6.8 /10

It's a small size, the feel of the community, and the chance to follow my planned course. I also had the chance to continue in my sport at a college level but not rely on it for money. They also gave me a large financial aid package.

Course Curriculum :

It's decent, but there are significant prerequisites that you have to do. We have classes in every department for the college. Then, you have the prerequisites for our major. Exercise science requires a lot of math and science.

Exams :

SAT, ACT, AP Exams to get into college. I will be taking the GRE to get into a physical therapy graduate school.

Placement :

The career development center is very helpful with anything related to careers. You can make an appointment to get help with your resume, applications, interview skills, or to help find connections in and out of the college community.

Internship :

They will help you find one but do not have connections in all majors. My major also requires that you complete an internship before graduation. There is a career development center that will help you find connections for after college.

Events :

Linfield is very diverse is what it celebrates and what goes on. Even though it is a small college, there is usually some sort of event every week. Homecoming is a big week, and then in the spring, there is a large event called Wildstock. That is when they bring in an upcoming band and have a private music festival on campus.

Fees :

There are tuition, technology, student body, and class fees. They can add up fast. Housing on campus also is required for the first three years. When you live in dorms for the first two years, you are also required to have a meal plan.

Scholarship :

Yes, I have quite a bit of financial aid. I did an early application, won during scholarship competition weekend, and got some for my high school GPA, SAT/ACT scores.

Examination Structure :

It varies by the class. Some classes only have a final project or paper. Other classes might have an exam just in the last section of material, while others have an accumulative final. Most professors are fairly flexible if you have issues attending the final at the scheduled time.

Faculty :

Most of the faculty are very engaged with the students. They do care about the students and their success. Some are harsh, but the small community of the college does not attract many of them.

Hostel :

Linfield has a 3 year live in requirement. The first two years you live in the dorms. Most are pretty good, and the rooms are bigger than those at state schools. You are able to choose your roommates sophomore year also. After your second year, you are eligible for apartment housing.
