Faculty are always free-minded they always encourage doubts. For each semester there will be 2 quizzes(for each subject in the sem), mid-semester exams and end-semester exams. sem duration will be 4-5 months only. If you study for 2 hours a day, it will be easy and een you can score 8+cpi easily. The Difficulty of passing will depend on you.

Even though IIIT Guwahati does not qualify to be at a very remote location, you will definitely have better options at NIT Andhra Pradesh.

IIIT Guwahati offers only two courses currently in its undergraduate B.Tech program; ECE and CSE.
Currently, no cut-off CGPA exists above which you can apply for the branch change. Try to score as high as possible and try to be among the very top few of the branch. The higher your CGPA is, the better your chances are for a possible branch change.
It is suggested it would be better if you can aim for a CGPA of 9.2 and above.
But I would also suggest you not burden yourself with the grades and numbers too much and enjoy your studies as much as possible. Study well and strive hard for your success and definitely, you can do wonders at any branch.

Having friends studying at both the institutions, I can say that IIIT Guwahati is a new college and this college is outside the city. Both IIIT Guwahati and NIT Silchar are good in their own ways.
- IIIT Guwahati is a little expensive as compared to NIT.
- The placements at IIIT Guwahati are good. But it is advisable to take NIT Silchar as your option if you have interest in electronics.
- If you are only interested in the CSE branch then you can go for IIIT Guwahati instead.
- At NIT Silchar major IT companies like Microsoft visit the campus for placements.
- Most of the companies allow ECE students to sit for placements.
- You will get more opportunities at NIT Silchar than at IIIT Guwahati. Also, NIT Silchar has got better infrastructure than IIIT Guwahati.
- The college has got better sports facilities, better hostel facilities.
