Program Structure

  • Coursework and Credits: The Ph.D course work comprises 2 types of courses:
    • Core Courses: These are mandatory for all students and carry 7 credits.
    • Elective Courses: Students are required to choose these courses as per their interest and carry 8 credits.
    • Evaluation: Evaluation is done on the basis of two sessional tests which comprise 40% of the total evaluation process and one end-semester examination which carries 60% weightage. 
    • Attendance: Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in all theory and practical classes separately. Candidates who failed to do so shall not be permitted to appear in end term examinations.
    • Examinations: Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the courses taken together to pass that course. Sessional tests are conducted in the form of lab work, paper or oral presentation etc. Candidates who fail in sessional tests will not be permitted to appear for end semester examinations.
  • Thesis: Candidates are required to submit a 5000-word summary of the research work along with three copies of the thesis based on which remarks are given.
