Oriental University enjoys the top position in Madhya Pradesh since 1995. The university was established under UGC Act under Section 2f,1956. It is the first private university in Indore. The university was founded by Devi Shakuntala Thakral Charitable Foundation. It is spread over 17.6 acres of land on the Indore-Ujjain highway near the international airport.

Oriental University research centers do not confine to engineering or pure science only but are also available to other specializations as well like History, Geography, Literature and Philosophy. Candidates who seek to apply for M. Phil and Ph. D courses should pass the entrance test and hold an undergraduate degree in the relevant field.

Oriental University PhD Eligibility

Specializations of courses in M.Phil. are as follows:

  • Commerce
  • Science (Physics, Maths, Chemistry)

Eligibility:

  • Student applying from Commerce background should have scored minimum 55% in M.Com.
  • Student applying from Science background should have scored minimum 55% in M.Sc.

Oriental University PhD Admission Process

The university has allotted fixed number of seats in the respective specializations. After verification of the application form at the desired study center, authorities will issue the acknowledgement card to the student. The documents will be sent for verification to the admission department.

The selection will be based on the marks obtained and the entrance exam and personal interview. Post that the students will be eligible to take the course. As soon as the department confirms the information provided by the student an ID Card will be issued. The ID will be different for each student during the selection procedure.

If the student selected failed to appear on the required date admission will be closed and no further requests will be entertained from the college. The student will not be reconsidered if the admissions close.

If the student is appearing for more than one course, he/she should inform the college about the same. Based on the selection process final list will be prepared. Details regarding the fees and commencement of college will be mentioned in the offer letter. The selected candidates will be communicated via email, phone call or post. The qualifying students will be intimated about the further requirements in their intimation letter.

The fee schedule for the Ph. D is given online. Students are selected for M. Phil degree on the basis of the entrance exam.

How To Apply?

The admission in Oriental University is a very strict but simple process. The students can apply for any specialization as per their interest. An online form is available for the application which the students need to fill and submit. The students can download the application form from the website orientaluniversity.in/phd.

After that, the college will call back to verify the details and provide further procedure of the admission. Alternatively, students can also collect the form from the college to fill and submit.

The form is required to be submitted along with the below documents:

  • A Demand draft of Rs. 1500 in favor of Oriental University, Indore payable at Indore should be enclosed with the application form.
  • Attested photocopy of Master’s degree mark sheet
  • Attested photocopy of the caste certificate, if applying from SC, ST, OBC.
  • Photocopy of any of the certificates like NET/GPAT/GATE/SET/SRF/JRF.
  • Attested copy of certificates of M. Phil degree

The students who are not exempt from the entrance will be called for an entrance test. The format will be similar to NET of UGC. The test will have the following content:

  • General Analytic Skills/mental ability includes reasoning
  • English Communication
  • Foundation of the subject applied for.

Once the student clears the entrance test conducted by the university, they will be called for a personal interview. If a large group of students does not qualify for the entrance test, the University if deemed can relax a condition from year to year. The academic council can modify the pattern of entrance examination from time to time.
