The admission process was very crucial, be it choice filling to seat allotment and reporting, the cutoff for this year was a bit low from last year's, in the first round mechanical branch in NIT Jamshedpur closed with obc category rank of 16k. There were no major differences till 6th round.

The admission process to this college is in a very systematic way to get into the B.Tech course first we have to clear an entrance exam named JEE Mains. This is an all-India exam conducted by NTA, if you get a good rank then you are eligible for admission to this college. The application form is easily available at the site NTA and the application fee for the general category is rs1000 and it has a discount for girls and reserved categories. Reserved students get benefits during the counseling as compared to general students. No, I don't see any improvement in the admission process it is already very systematic.

I gave JEE mains for Nit Jamshedpur. You will have to pass the intermediate examination in order to appear for exams. St and sc students have reserved seats. And the cutoff it pretty high so you will have to prepare wisely. Applications for jee mains will be available on Jossa website. St and SC students are given relief in tuition fees in government colleges. Nothing is bad with the admission process. Except that council should work faster.

I have a few friends at NIT Jamshedpur, here are some of the things that should improve, according to them.
Food:
- The canteen system has a major flaw. The masses are contracted to a single contractor with no proper channel of grievance redressal.
- Even after complaining to mess secretaries the situation has not improved.
- They feel that the duration of the mess contract should be a maximum of two semesters for a contractor.
- Also, students have objected to the recruitment of children from the local slums to work in the mess.
Infrastructure:
- There are many vacant rooms in each department, like the Entrepreneurship Development cell on top of the CSE department.
- However, whenever students request for an extra spec for start-up or TAP cell wants more room for recruitment drive the administration denies giving permission.
Internet:
- There are many complaints about the internet connectivity at the campus. The bandwidth provided is not satisfactory.
- My friends feel if the tender for wifi is given to private companies like Airtel, the situation can improve.
Technology: The technology used in CSE labs is outdated. According to my friends, switching to the open-source OS in the lab and CC will be great.
Many students have good ideas about how to improve the situation at the campus, be it common room, clubs, or society, the administration should keep an open mind and hear them out.

The coding culture in this institute is still developing, but my friend told me that it has improved since 2014 when he took admission to this institute. He also said that the students here performed a remarkable job in boosting the actual culture in coding in this institute.
- My friend mentioned the name of Shubham Vishwakarma Sir, who is considered as the best developer as well as the coder of this institute. His works are really impressive, and he was performed as a judge most of the time in the local regular coding contests arranged in Codechef and HackerEarth.
- Seniors had made a great performance when my friend was in this institute by establishing the Programming Club of NIT JSR (PCON). But it is still unofficial, and the ex-students give funds for this club.
- For this reason, the student makes plans to gather more contests along with different seminars under this club’s authorization. It will boost the knowledge of every junior student, especially those who are actually interested in the field of computer science.
- The coding culture may not like the coding culture of top IITs and NITs, but the students of this institute are really working hard to improve.
- A lot of improvement has been done along with the partnership with CodeChef, and he also joined monthly contests in his first year of study. However, the team of Shubham Singh, Shubham Vishwakarma, and Shubhendu Shishir had made excellent performances in ICPC regional and got 7th position.
Thereby, it is concluded that still, it is a long way to go, but the students here are maintaining a great pace.
