IIT Dhanbad MTech admissions are based on a GATE Score followed by COAP counseling. For IIT Dhanbad MTech Admission 2024, GATE Registrations have started from August 30. The closing date for regular registration is October 12, 2023. Along with that, the deadline for extended online registration or application process (with a late fee) is 20 October 2023. 

IIT Dhanbad offers an MTech program in 30 different specializations for a duration of 2 years divided into 4 semesters. For GATE Category:

• B.Tech/B.E/Masters (Science/Arts/ Commerce) degree holder with 60% marks.

For IIT Graduates:

• B.Tech degree with minimum 8.0 CGPA.
• Exempted from GATE score requirement.

For Sponsored Category: 

• Academic institutions/PSU/Govt. R&D organizations/Govt.recognized private R&D organizations/industry employee with minimum 2 years work experience.
• Must be sponsored by the employer.
• Must upload Employees' Provident Fund (EPF)/Salary Bank Account statement with application form.
• Undertaken from the employer
• Must have M.tech degree with minimum 60% marks
• Valid GATE score
• Sponsored candidates with B.Tech from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) and 8.0 CGPA are exempted from GATE score.

GATE 2023 COAP Registration Process

After passing the GATE entrance exam, candidates are to register for the COAP counseling process to secure their admission into IITs, NITs, and other participating institutes. COAP provides a common platform for the registered candidates to make the most preferred choice for admission into an M.Tech. Program in the participating Institutes. 

Eligibility Criteria to Register for COAP 2023

1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. Candidates should have a valid GATE score from 2023/2022/2021.

GATE 2023 COAP Step by Step Registration Process:

The candidates can successfully apply for GATE COAP 2023 by simply following the below:

Step 1: Visit the official website of COAP @ coap.iitd.ac. and click on the registration link.

Step 2: Fill in details such as their GATE Registration Number, GATE Paper Code, GATE score, date of birth.

Step 3: Click on the “Validate” icon and enter the registered email id and mobile number.

Step 4:Click on the “Submit to Register” button.

Step 5: After the registration is successfully done for COAP 2023, the candidates will obtain a Login ID and Password for COAP Login. The same will be sent via Email and SMS.

Step 6: The COAP registration will only be considered as complete only if the candidates log in using the Login ID and Password and verify the registration details.

Step 7: After the completion of the above-given steps, the candidate can access the information on offers made from the participating Institutes.

Step 8: In the end, the admission offer will be uploaded at COAP website and will be tagged with COAP registration number (same as GATE registration number without subject code).

IIT Dhanbad M.Tech students are offered a large number of scholarship support. These scholarships are both government and institute-sponsored.

• ISS Scholarship: A maximum of 10 Best students of All UG and PG programs are awarded the ISS Scholarship.
• Merit Cum Means Scholarship: Students from all disciplines are eligible for 25% scholarship and 10% Freeship on a Merit basis.

IIT Dhanbad offers Financial assistantships to the M>Tech enrolled through GATE and IIT Graduate category. Students with assistantships need to engage in the academic activities of their respective departments. Such students must work for 8 hours per week. Acecedmi activities include laboratory demonstrations, tutorials, and evaluation of assignments.
