Palamuru University Ph.D Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who seek admission to the full-time or part-time Ph.D. program offered at Palamuru University shall have the following eligibility:

  • Must have scored at least 55% aggregate marks or equivalent in Post-graduate degree examination from a recognized university in the concerned subject or in an allied subject.
  • Must have qualified for UGC-CSIR/ ICMR / ICAR /DBT /JRF fellowship/ and Teacher Fellowship.
  • Those who do not have any research fellowship shall have qualified for the NET/ TSET/ GATE/ JEST entrance examination

  • For Admission to Part-time Ph.D.: Must submit a permission letter or provide “No Objection Certificate” from the current employer including all the mandatory commitments as per University Standards.

Course Duration

  • Full-time Ph.D. program provided at the Palamuru University shall be of a minimum duration of 3 years divided into 6 semesters including coursework and thesis submission.
  • The part-time Ph.D. program at Palamuru University shall be of a minimum duration of 5 years divided into 10 semesters including coursework and thesis submission.

Prescribed Coursework

  • Ph.D. students have to mandatory undergo a course work of 1st Semester that includes two theory papers.
  • Paper-I will be based on Research Methodology which will be common for all, however, Paper-II will be based on the candidate’s specialization Ph.D. course. Both the papers shall be of 100 marks.
  • Each theory will have 60 hours of classes.
  • Both part-time and full-time Ph.D. students shall have a minimum of 75% attendance.
  • Ph.D. students shall score a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in both the courses.

Progress Reports

  • Ph.D. students are required to submit a half-yearly progress report to the RAC duly forwarded by the Research Supervisor. The progress report will contain data collected, progress in research, literature, etc.

Seminar Presentation: After the successful completion of course work, and progress report submission, a Ph.D. student is required to conduct two Seminar Presentations.

  • Seminar I will be based on Research Design while Seminar II will Pre-Submission of Thesis which generally occurs at least three months before.
  • The programs are certified by the Head of the respective Department.

Thesis Submission: After the successful completion of pre-thesis examinations, a candidate shall submit their thesis within the stipulated time.

  • In the Thesis submission, a Ph.D. student shall submit the research paper from their research findings of the respective Ph.D. specialization.
  • The paper presentations in (International/ National) conferences or seminars.
  • Ph.D. candidates need to score a minimum of 50% of the points to qualify for Thesis Submission and to be eligible for the Viva-Voce examination.
  • The thesis will be examined by the 3 examiners and they hold the power to reject or accept the thesis for the award of Ph.D degree.

Viva-Voce Examination: Ph.D. students will only be allowed to sit for a viva-voce examination if all three examiners have accepted the candidate’s thesis submission.

  • The Viva-Voce examination should primarily be designed to test the understanding of the candidate on the subject matter of the thesis, including the methodology employed.

Degree Award: Students will be awarded a doctoral degree after the successful completion of coursework, Proposal Seminar, Thesis Submission, and Viva-Voce examinations.

Palamuru University also provides financial assistantship to full-time Ph. D. students who fulfill the eligibility criteria.

  • Various Government and non-government organizations offer funds to the research scholars for the research assistantship.
