This BSc (Hons) Forensic Science degree course at Teesside University is multidisciplinary. Besides extensive skills development in the background and practice of current methods of scientific forensic analysis, grounding is also given in the investigative processes from recovering evidence through to presenting it in court.
Taking criminal investigation as an example, fragments of glass, paint fragments, fibers, footwear marks, or DNA extracted from body fluids can help provide evidence to link individuals with each other or with the scene of a crime.
The challenge is deciding which samples to examine and how to obtain the best evidential value by analyzing and interpreting them.
In addition to learning the vital skills relevant to a forensic scientist, the course ensures that you can develop your understanding of key underpinning knowledge of subjects such as biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, toxicology, and analytical chemistry.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

A typical offer is 80-104 tariff points from at least two A levels (or equivalent).
The University welcomes applications from mature students without conventional entry requirements. They take into account any alternative qualifications or other experience they may have.
Students can gain considerable knowledge from work, volunteering, and life. Under recognition of prior learning (RPL) they may be awarded credit for this which can be credited towards the course they want to study.
A minimum grade of 60% is required for introductory courses and a 60% overall average in all courses required for the certificate.
Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission to this program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Students required to passed Class 12th with a percentage of 70-72% (Major), 78-82% (Honours) from one of the following boards:

- Indian School Certificate (CISCE)
