Course closed: Engineering is no longer accepting new applications.
- M.Phil in Engineering at the University of Cambridge is offered on a full-time basis for a duration of 12-months.
- It is an on-campus program also offered on a part-time basis for a duration of 24 months.
- The MPhil is offered by the Department of Engineering as a full-time one-year course of the research, introducing students to research skills and specialist knowledge.
- Students wishing to apply for the PhD are expected to pass the MPhil and to satisfy their examiners that they are capable of continuation.
- Students will spend most of their time on research for their thesis.
- Students take two masters-level lecture courses and participate in a regular seminar which will equip them with vital research and communication skills.
- During the research work, students will have to attend at least 8 one-to-one meetings with their supervisors.
- Students have to attend the classes and seminars of 8 hours per term and lectures of 32 hours per year.
- The outcome of the MPhil program is determined through an examination of a 15,000-word thesis.
- The examination includes an oral examination of the thesis and the general field of knowledge.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must complete a UK honours degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Students should have a background in engineering, science, or a related subject.
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or C1 Advanced-Grade A or B (with at least 193 in each individual element) plus a language center assessment.
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or C2 Proficiency-Grade A, B, or C (with at least 200 in each individual element).
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year bachelor's degree in any Engineering field with first-class from a recognized institution.
- Or, completed a B.Sc/B.Com/B.A (3-4 year) degree from well-ranked institutions with an overall grade of 70% or CGPA 7.3+.
