Field trips are an integral part of the course, and previous destinations have included New York, Dublin Barcelona and Prague. YouÕll also go on field trips to places within the UK, and we regularly invite industry speakers to come to us in Sunderland.
We encourage our students to undertake a year-long placement between the second and final years, although it is not compulsory. ItÕs a great opportunity to get paid to put your learning into practice and to extend your experience. In recent years, some of our students have taken one-year internship programmes in Chicago, Austen and Miami in the USA.
Tourism has been described as the world's biggest single industry, and it accounts for millions of jobs worldwide, and it continues to be a growth area. Many of our graduates go on to work in managerial roles within the tourism and hospitality industries.

- Career destinations
Many of our graduates go on to work in managerial roles within the tourism and hospitality industry. Job titles include Hotel Manager, Tourism Development Officer or Resort Office Manager. Employers include hotels, airlines, travel agencies, events organisers, heritage attractions, Local Authorities and other public sector bodies.
Additionally, you will have a broad set of transferable skills that will equip you for a much wider range of graduate-level employment. Your course could also be a stepping stone to further study and research.
- Field trips
The course involves visits to a range of tourism and hospitality venues and initiatives. These visits are local to the North East, national throughout the UK, and international to destinations such as New York, Dublin, Prague and Barcelona.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- 30 points overall from the full IB diploma
- Higher levels must include matematics with level 5
English Language Requirements:
- IELTS: 6.0 minimum overall with 5.5 in each subskill
- TOEFL IBT: minimum 80 overall with 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing
- Duolingo: 120 overall with no component below 100
- PTE: minimum 59 overall with 59 in each skill
- CPE: minimum 169 overall with 162 in each section
Indian Student Specific Requirements:
- 80% from ISC Indian School of certificate of Education
- 80% from SSC All India Senior School Certificate Examination
- 80% HSC Higher Secondary Certificate
