The course is delivered by staff of the EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Medical Devices and Health Technologies (CDT), with colleagues from Engineering, the Life Sciences and Physical Sciences. ThereÕs also input from clinical advisers from the NHS and elsewhere.

TheÊtraining programme equips youÊwith the basic knowledge andÊterminology in current life scienceÊsubjects to allow you to explore topics in your own research project withÊdirection from your supervisor.

You'll gain practical experience inÊthe life science techniques and anÊappreciation of interdisciplinary projectÊwork.

YouÕll study

This credit-based modular degree comprises assessed instructional classes and project work.

YouÕll also undertake a research project. YouÕll choose from a list of relevant industrial or clinical projects, and submit a thesis.

There's a range of projects topics you can choose from. Some of our more recent titles are:

• Vaccine delivery via high-throughput nanoparticle-enhanced cell imaging in microfluidic devices
• Development of an optically guided navigated orthopaedic surgical tool (OGNOST)
• Developing a means of diagnosing and assessing prosodic deficits in people with Parkinson's disease
• A plastic laser diagnostic platform for assessing the risk of cardiovascular disease
