Teesside University Review

s
7.8 /10

I am a master’s student pursuing animation with advanced practice at Teesside University, England. I choose this university because it was affordable and it was one of the few universities providing 2 years degree in 3D animation. Also the town is one of the most cheapest places in England.

Course Curriculum :

The course curriculum is great. It challenges you at every step along the way and pushes you to learn and give your best. The course covers all the stages from basic exercises to advance level gradually. If you are willing to learn you have all the resources at your disposal. The library and Student Union Building are some of the best places to work in your leisure time. If you get tired or have small break between classes you can access snooze room for a quick power nap as well.

Exams :

You are required to take IELTS test and provide Letter of recommendation along with statement of purpose . The minimum score requirement differs from course to course. If you have not given the IELTS the university can also ask for a online interview. If you are doing course related to arts then you are required to have portfolio or a showreel.

Placement :

Post study placements depends on the engagement of the students throughout their course. Faculties keep organizing talks from industry experts. The student should be willing to built network. The university provides assistance in building your CV, mock interviews and how to connect on LinkedIn.

Events :

University provides you with some amazing services like Launch Pad, Career Counseling, English learning cafe and so much more. The university has a welcoming environment whether you are an international student or local. The university believes in maintaining a work-life balance for students. The Student union keeps organizing fun game nights and movie nights for students to interact. Also we get to celebrate and enjoy some major festivals from all over the globe such as chinese new year, Diwali, Christmas. Apart from this if you're a fitness enthusiast you will surely love the university gym. From football to yoga the gym has it all with a minimal fee for the students. You can also workout in groups or ask for a personal trainer as well. Teesside university has something to offer for every student no matter what your interest. You can have the best time at the university by joining university clubs and societies. Whether you are a fine arts student who likes sports or an engineering student who enjoys art, you can have it all. The best part of the university is that you get to meet and make friends with students from different cultures.

Faculty :

The faculties of my course are the best in their field and they provide as much support as they can in your learning process. Most of the faculties have years of industry experience. They are very patient and polite as they are aware that students in the course are from different culture and can have trouble understanding the language. Mostly all the labs are accessible to students 24/7 if you have a lab based course. You can find all kinds of support from your peers as well as staff. If you are new around the town they can help you to learn how to manage your money, well being and mental health and to search for part time jobs. They also have English learning cafe where you can practice your language skills and make new friends at the same time. They also assist you with editing and formatting your university projects in the library through appointments.

Hostel :

The university have few accommodations in different price ranges. Some of the accommodations are sharing and some are single room. You can ask for your choice. The accommodation for boys and girls are mixed, however the security is really good. They respond immediately if someone is in distress.
