Tina Watkins Scholarship

Tina Watkins Scholarships are offered to continuing students pursuing their bachelors or masters degree. Every year, 2 scholarships are awarded to Texas A&M University, once at the beginning of Spring semester and once in the Fall semester.

  • The scholarship is only applicable to international students enrolled in UG or PG programs.
  • Tina Watkins Scholarships awards are distributed for one semester and covers the students’ tuition fees of the program.
    • It is applied directly to the tuition fees bill for the next semester enrollment.
  • The scholarship process comprises an application form and a nomination from the faculty.
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate applicants must fulfill the minimum GPR requirements.

The scholarship is awarded on the basis of meritorious performance in academics, financial need and the length of the period that the student has been enrolled at Texas A&M university.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for Tina Watkins Scholarship, applicants are required to fulfill the following requirements:

  • International self-funded student on a F-1 student visa.
  • Currently enrolled in an UG or PG program at Texas A&M University.
    • Full time ELI students or prospective students not eligible.
    • Enrolled in either first or second or third semester in their degree program
  • Undergraduate applicants: minimum cumulative GPR of 2.0
  • Postgraduate applicants: minimum GPR 3.0

The candidates should not be an awardee of a Tina Watkins Scholarship previously.


Application Process

The eligible students apply via university scholarship application page. The process for that is given below:

  • Students are required to use their Net ID to log in
  • Next step is to complete the eligibility and financial resources pages within the International or study abroad section in the application

Need to submit ISFAA with online application form

In addition to application form, Tina Watkins scholarship application requires a nomination letter by any faculty member of Texas A&M university. The nomination letters must be written in English and must include the following details:

  • Name of the student
  • Nominators relationship with the student
  • Verification of financial need
  • Statement of purpose describing student’s academic performance
  • Comparison between the candidate with other students on the basis of academic excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Additional information about the candidate you need the scholarship committee to know about

Selection Process

Selections are based on academic performance of the candidate as well as financial need. In addition to this, an applicant’s contribution to the community, performance in extra-curricular activities.

The faculty nomination form is also taken into major consideration while assessing the applications.

The scholarship is awarded with the contribution of friends and colleagues in the honour of Tina Watkins who had worked all her life for the development of the needs of international students.
