University of Alberta Graduate Fellowship

University of Alberta Graduate Fellowship is a one-time fellowship offered to students who wish to pursue careers in research work at the University of Alberta (UAlberta). The fellowship benefits students who wish to pursue higher education in Canada at UAlberta with some financial help.

  • Under, University of Alberta Graduate Fellowship, recipients will receive 8,000 CAD.
  • A total of 207 fellowships are awarded under this fellowship program.
  • Students must enroll in either masters or doctoral programs at UAlberta.
  • The respective department will nominate  students to the Faculty of Graduate Study and Research (FSGR)

The selection of the recipients will be done by FSGR based on the application form and academic background of the nominated students.

Eligibility Criteria

Students coming from different backgrounds irrespective of their nationalities are eligible for the University of Alberta Graduate Fellowship. Apart from this, they must meet the eligibility requirements listed below:

  • Must be registered as full-time students in the intended program of study.
  • Must be registered in masters or doctoral programs offered by UAlberta.
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher most recent 15 units of coursework.
  • Students on academic probation, or registered in cost-recovery programs are not eligible

Application Process

Each department is allocated with no. of scholarships to be offered according to the funds available. On the basis of that, they nominate the most suitable candidates to FGSR.

These departments then send the application form along with unofficial academic transcripts of the nominees to FGSR.

Nominations must be mailed together to grad.awards@ualberta.ca


Selection Process

Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research will then verify the eligibility of the nominees sent by the department. They will be judged based on their academic achievements, application form, and transcripts.

Selected students will be directly contacted by FGSR about the outcome.


Grant Details

Students who wish to study in Canada at the University of Alberta and pursue research-based programs can apply for the University of Alberta Graduate Fellowship.

Students must meet the eligibility requirements specified by the university for the same.
