Jha Family Scholarship for Excellence in Finance

Thorugh the donation from Professor Ranjini Jha, School of Accounting and Finance, UWaterloo offers a 2,500 CAD award via Jha Family Scholarship for Excellence in Finance. The university has a separate application process for the scholarship program.

  • Each year, only one recipient is selected for this University of Waterloo Award.
  • Jha Family Scholarship is available to both domestic and international students.
  • The scholarship is applicable for the students enrolled in the third and fourth years of the UG program in Accounting.
  • Jha Family Scholarship applications must be submitted by October 1.

Eligibility Criteria

The Jha Family Scholarship is open to the students of all countries and nationalities, presently studying at the University of Waterloo.

However, an eligible applicant for Jha Family Scholarship for Excellence in Finance must:

  • be in the third or fourth year of any full-time Finance and Accounting course at UWaterloo.
  • have an average of 85% in Finance program, related to your program
    • Accounting and financial management
    • Science/biotechnology
    • Computing and financial management
    • Mathematics/CPA

Prospective scholarship applicants must note that preference will be given to ones who show interest in pursuing career in finance through work experience/ related activities.


Application Process

A separate application form is required for the Jha Family Scholarship for Excellence in Finance. Eligible applicants must register and apply online for the scholarship at the university’s official website.

  1. Complete the UWaterloo Undergraduate Award Application
    • Presently applications are only accepted for awards with Winter deadlines (January-April).
  2. Provide the required student supporting documents:
    • An updated CV
    • Letter stating why you need and deserve the scholarship
    • Evidence of work experience
    • Extra-curricular achievements


Selection Process

The Jha Family Scholarship for Excellence in Finance award is given on the grounds of merit and academic performance.

However, the priority is given to the students who show a keen interest in purusing a career in finance and management.


Grant Details

The Jha Family Scholarship for Excellence in Finance valued 2,500 CAD, which is financial aid for the payment of the recipient’s UWaterloo tuition fees. Other expenses such as health cover, transportation, accommodation to stay in Canada are not included in the funding.

If you fulfill the eligibility criteria, you may receive the amount at the beginning of the semester itself. You will have to fill a separate application for each award or scholarship you wish to get. The scholarship is a one-time non-renewable award.
