St. Andrews International Accommodation Award

St Andrews International Accommodation Award is financial support towards the accommodation chosen by international students at the University of St. Andrews. The award covers the expenses of staying on or off-campus during the study years at the University of St Andrews.

  • An award of £1,500 per annum only towards the cost of accommodation
  • Financial condition has to be proved with certain documents and written statements.

Eligibility Criteria

The University of St Andrews awards the St Andrews International Accommodation Award to students against their on-campus or off-campus accommodation expenses. The eligibility for the accommodation award is that the applicant must be:

As part of the scholarship application, facts like total household income, receipts of any previous or current aids, scholarships, etc., any disabilities or dependents must be clearly stated along with the fact that how this award will help in undertaking the studies.


Application Process

The applicant needs to be a prospective student at the University of St. Andrews. The application process for applying for the St Andrews International Accommodation Award is-

  • An application to seek admission to the University of St Andrews
  • Log in details are issued after two working days and processing of the admission application
  • Applicants need to apply for the scholarship through My Application
  • Choose Scholarships and Funding> View the scholarships and funding catalog
  • Enter the academic year of enrollment, the award type and the study level
  • Click Refresh list
  • Find the specific name of the scholarship through the Filter box
  • Proceed with the further application of the International Accommodation Award

As part of the scholarship application, applicants are required to submit the following documents-

  • Financial Statement- A write up stating the-
    • current financial status,
    • aids received for earlier studies
    • change in the financial situation or history of financial need
    • Changes in income
  • Household Income- Evidence of the household income stated in the scholarship application in the form of-
    • tax returns or forms
    • employment/wage/salary statements
    • dividends, pension, annuity, etc.
    • bank statements/E-statements
    • confirmation letters from the department of work and pensions, etc.

While completing the scholarship application, applicants must make sure that they convert the local currency to Pounds (GBP) and also indicate the exchange rate. Also, all documents attached to the scholarship application must be in English.

In case of any difficulty in filling an online application, the applicants can mail their applications at email address: scholarshipsandfunding@st-andrews.ac.uk. Any incorrect entry in the application form will be rejected by the university, and therefore applicants must make sure that they apply on time.


Selection Process

Scholarship applications for the International Accommodation Award can be made after an application for admission to the University of St Andrews has been made. Applicants do not need to wait for the deadline and apply early.

The selection for the St Andrews International Accommodation Award is means-tested and is made on the basis of financial need as stated by the applicant.

The outcome of the scholarship application made is available on the “View my applications” of My Application in the Scholarships and Funding. Usually, the outcomes are revealed by May 2023 for students enrolled in the UG program and June 2023 for postgraduate programs.

The St Andrews International Accommodation Award is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students who want to study in the UK at the University in St Andrews. The amount of award is £1,500 given annually for on-campus or off-campus accommodations. The award is dependent on the economic condition and needs of the prospective student.

  • The application for accommodation award is not linked to the study course application and does not impact the study course application in any way.
  • The award has no restrictions on area and level of study.
  • The award also has no restrictions of being exclusive and hence can be combined with other scholarships or bursaries.
  • The applicant must provide complete, accurate and true information that can be supported with evidence.

For outside/off-campus private accommodation students it is given as monthly maintenance.

The study abroad programs or the periods when the student is not pursuing the program offered by the University of St Andrews are not considered under this award.
