Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarships 2020

In recognition of Dr. Kalam’s contribution to his profession as a scientist and aeronautical engineer, he was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of Sydney in 2011. In the same year, the university established Dr. Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarships to celebrate his commitment to education.

Available to all eligible international students, the scholarships offers them a chance to pursue a master’s course at the faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. The benefits of Dr. Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarships are given in the table below:

Application for the Dr. Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship Program are available twice a year, once in September (1st semester) and mid-February (2nd semester). Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship, an applicant must:

Be an international student
Possess an admission offer for a Masters’s level program in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.
Have a minimum WAM (Weighted Average Marks) of 75 in undergraduate coursework

Terms and Conditions

Applicants must not hold any other primary scholarship offered by the University of Sydney.
Students transferring from other PG programs or those who have already commenced their course are not eligible for this scholarship.
The recipients must commence their degree in the same semester and year the scholarship is awarded.

Application Process

Along with the application form, all the applicants must upload their academic transcripts of previously attended institutions.

Selection Process

Academic achievements of applicants are the main criteria for awarding the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship.

The selection committee headed by the Associate Dean (Education) will select students for the scholarship program. After receiving the online applications, the committee will evaluate the applicants and based on their academic performance, compile a list of shortlisted candidates.

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by the committee. Selected students will be notified through an official letter.

Terms and Conditions

To renew the scholarship, recipients must maintain WAM of 65 in each of the semesters.
This scholarship offers only 50% of the total tuition fees. All other expenses are required to be borne by the student.

Termination of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship

This International Postgraduate Scholarship will be terminated if:

The recipient withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enroll.
The student status changes from international to domestic.
The recipient does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.
The student does not maintain satisfactory academic performance.
The recipient is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct.

Grant Details

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarships are offered to eligible international applicants with at least 75% at the UG level. Applications for the same are invited separately and form is available on the university’s official website.

The scholarship contributes 50% of the total tuition fees for the PG program at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Sydney. The tenure of the scholarship is for 1 year renewed semester wise. For the upcoming scholarship session, the deadline for application is January 12, 2020.
