Remarks :
I applied to XIMB using my CAT scores. There is a separate application for XIMB which is available on the site. The eligibility criteria for the course is that one must hold a bachelor's degree of a minimum of 3 years of duration with equivalent marks of 55%. Additionally, one must clear the CAT cutoff ( If applied through CAT) depending on domicile or non-domicile quotas. Application cost is around Rs 1600 and it opens in mid-September. The admission process is fairly simple- I got an interview invite once my eligibility criteria were met. Post my interview I got an offer letter from the college for admission. Once I accepted the offer, I was given a buddy to connect to as well as further information about joining and campus life.
Course Curriculum Overview :
XIMB has a holistic curriculum ranging from Finance to Information systems for its flagship Programme MBA-BM for which I enrolled. This program is one of the best in the country due to its rigor and discipline. The program consists of core courses and elective subjects totaling 105 credits. In the first year, we must study courses from all fields, such as marketing, finance, operations, and systems. In the second year, we can select our Major and Minor electives from a list of 53 electives. Faculty members are qualified, and all the faculty hold a Ph.D. degree in their respective subjects. There are 50 faculty members for 720 students across years and disciplines. The exams are based on theoretical and practical knowledge gained in class during teaching hours.
Internships Opportunities :
For internships, there were around 90 recruiters that came for various roles under all sectors- finance, marketing, consulting, systems, and operations. The highest stipend that was offered was 1.65 L/month by coca cola. Some prominent recruiters are BCG, Bain, ICICI, Crisil, BD, Coca-cola, HT media, etc.
Placement Experience :
Placements are offered to the students of XIMB. Few students are offered PPOs through their internships. Other students can sit for the placement process in the 5th term. There were 71 recruiters this year, of which 26 were new. Some prominent recruiters are: BCG, Mckinsey, Bain, ICICI, BD, Crisil, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs. The highest package is 71.51 LPA from Microsoft. The average package is 20.03 LPA, and profiles are offered in Finance, marketing, operations, consulting, and systems. The placement was 100%. My plans after getting the degree are to get a placement from college and climb the corporate ladder in the future.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For the Year 2022-24, the fee is to be paid in two parts- Year 1 and Year 2. The fee for Year 1 is Rs 1130000, which includes Program fees, alumni Fees, and Career Advisory Fees. The fee for Year 2 is Rs 950000. There are no scholarships available for students of XIMB, but there are ample opportunities to participate in national/international level case competitions. XIMB provides internship opportunities for 1st Year students with an average package of Rs 60000. The 2nd year students are provided with placement opportunities with an average package of Rs 200000. Other than that, many live projects are also floated on the campus.
Campus Life :
The campus has 19 committees across all interests and disciplines in college. The committees include- 4 core committees( Placements, Alumni, Media and PR and International relations), 5 functional committees (Finance, marketing, operations, systems, consulting), and 10 interest committees ( cultural, sports, speaking, social responsibility, etc.). The annual fest is Xpressions, the largest fest in East India, and is generally conducted in January every year. The library also has wide-ranging books from all subjects, including hard and soft copies. All classrooms are in good condition- each has a projector and air conditioners in good condition. The chairs are comfortable for sitting for long hours. Various cultural activities take place on campus daily, including multiple case competitions that open only for premier b-schools in India. There are different events held by my committees inside campus every month.
Hostel Facilities :
The campus has six hostels- 4 for boys and 2 for girls. Rooms are spacious and have all amenities such as cupboards, tables, beds and chairs. Few items need to be brought such as- matress, bedsheets and dustbins for personal use. The food in mess is of low quality. The menu mainly comprises a mix of north indian and south indian food. The menu keeps changing every month to offer variety in the food. We need to pay the fees for hostel through an online portal, after which rooms are allocated at the discretion of the hostel secretary and hostel wardens. The hostels are affordable and comfortable.
Interview Experience :
The process only included Personal Interview. The questions were mainly from the subjects I studied in my computer science undergraduate degree ( For Example database management systems, C++, and Big data) and work experience. There was only one interview round with a panel of 3 faculty members. I prepared for these interviews by revising my subject material and also preparing for my basic HR questions multiple times. No other rigorous preparation is required for the interview.
