My campus

Remarks :

The admission process in government engineering colleges usually begins with the release of the admission form. The forms are usually available online as well as offline and can be easily obtained by visiting the college campus. The admission form requires the candidate to fill in their personal and academic details, which are then used for further evaluation. The admission fee for government engineering colleges is usually very nominal and affordable, making it accessible to students from all backgrounds. This fee covers the cost of processing the application and is non-refundable. The admission date is usually announced by the college in advance and is usually in the month of June. This gives students ample time to prepare for the admission process and to gather all the necessary documents. However, I feel that the admission process in government engineering colleges could be made more efficient and streamlined. The process of money payment makes it more sufficient.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose Mechanical Engineering because of my interest in designing and developing mechanical systems, machines, and components. The curriculum of this course is designed in such a way that students get a good understanding of the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering and how to apply them in practical situations. The faculty-student ratio in the Mechanical Engineering program is excellent, which helps in giving students the necessary attention and guidance. The faculty members are highly qualified and have rich industry experience, which adds value to the course and makes it more practical. The teaching method used by the faculty is student-centric, and they ensure that all students understand the concepts before moving on to the next topic. The faculty is approachable, and students can easily seek clarification on any subject matter. The term exams were timely, and the students were given enough time to prepare for the exams.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships typically provide students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience in their field of study and build their professional network. Projects and tasks assigned during an internship can vary depending on the company and the role, but often include tasks such as data analysis, market research, product development, and more. The stipend provided during an internship varies widely depending on the company, location, and the level of responsibility. Some internships are paid, while others are not, but provide valuable work experience and the opportunity to build connections in the industry. It's best to check with your college's career center or department for more information on specific internship opportunities available to students.

Placement Experience :

Students become eligible for campus placements in their final year of study, though it can vary from college to college. Companies from various industries visit campus to recruit students for various profiles such as Design engineers, Production engineers, Maintenance engineers, etc. The number of offers made depends on the number of students appearing for the placement process and the vacancies available with the companies. The campus placement for Mechanical Engineering students is very less. It is not uncommon for top companies to offer packages in the range of 6-10 LPA, with an average package of around 4-6 LPA. The percentage of students getting placements can also vary greatly depending on the college's reputation, the student's performance, and the current job market scenario. The placement rate of 60-70% of students who get placed in core companies. The others get placed in another core company. After the degree, I want to join in Indian airforce by attending the AFCAT exam.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure of the university is affordable and reasonable compared to other institutions in the same field. The university provides various payment options to make the process easier for students, such as installments and scholarships. The fee hike policy is based on the current inflation rate and the cost to study is updated annually. The university also provides ample opportunities for students to receive financial assistance and scholarships, which is a great benefit for those who are struggling financially. In terms of scholarships, the university provides various merit-based and need-based scholarships to deserving students. Some of the notable scholarships include the Academic Excellence Scholarship, Diversity Scholarship, and Financial Assistance Scholarship. The scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, personal achievements, and financial needs, making them accessible to a wide range of students.

Campus Life :

Life at the campus is truly enriching and fulfilling. The social life is vibrant, with a lot of opportunities to make new friends and interact with students from different backgrounds. Various student-run clubs cater to different interests and hobbies, from music and arts to sports and community service. The annual fest, ‘Daksha’ is a grand event that showcases the talent and creativity of students, and is conducted in May. The tech fest, ‘Innvento’ is another highly anticipated event that takes place in March and brings together students from different colleges to showcase their technical skills and innovation. The library is well-stocked with books and journals, making it a great place to study and research. The campus is also well-equipped with sports facilities, including a basketball court, a football field, and a gymnasium. There are also several extra-curricular activities available, including music clubs, debate clubs, and dramas.

Hostel Facilities :

At first, I stayed at the college Hostel and I have to say I was quite impressed with the facilities provided. The room I rented was clean and spacious with a large window that let in a lot of natural light. The meal quality was good and the menu was quite diverse with options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The staff was polite and attentive. The registration process for the hostel was straightforward and affordable fees. The staff was friendly and helpful but this hostel has only limited seats so many of us want to stay in a private hostel. And I stayed in a private hostel and I must say, it was a complete disappointment. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the dingy and unkempt appearance of the place. The meals were very poor and the hostel is not money worth. And also the fee is unaffordable.

The placements in college are quite good, with placement getting better each year. From semester 6 onwards, students get eligible for campus placements. Some of the companies that visit our college are ALSTOM, TCS, WIPRO, MRF, INFOSYS, SIEMENS, IBM, L&T, COGNUZANT, etc with the list getting long. The highest package offered this year was 12 LPA and the average was 4 LPA. In our senior bath, 70 out of 100 students got placed. My plan after getting the degree is to get a job through campus placement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I felt it is more apt for me. The course curriculum is already set by the KTU for the courses provided by it. Our faculty are well trained and highly qualified. Exams are conducted and scheduled as instructed by the KTU. The difficulty of the exam is mainly based on the subject. Our faculty help us tackle them easily. They help weak academic students and uplift them along with others.
