Kartikeya Tiwari's Review On IIFT Delhi Indian Institute Of Foreign Trade, New Delhi | collegedunia.com

IIFT Delhi: One of a kind B-School driving India's efforts to be a Global Powerhouse

Remarks :

For admission, first, you have to give the IIFT entrance exam that is organized by IIFT through National Testing Agency. The application form can be accessed at iift.nta.nic.in and it usually opens in October each year with the exam scheduled in December 2nd or 3rd week. Reservation Benefits as per the Govt. exam criteria are applicable. The Exam consists of Aptitude, logical reasoning, and general knowledge questions. The paper is conducted on the NTA portal, which is quite error-prone and happened while the often issues student is giving the exam.

Course Curriculum Overview :

MBA in International Business, the flagship course of IIFT is one of a kind MBA specialization being offered by IIFT alone with lots of focus on International Trade and Economics. The Faculty is some of the best in the country, especially in the fields of Trade, Economics, and Finance, and work or collaborate directly with the govt. ministries in policy making and other assignments. Student to Faculty ratio is decent with a good number of visiting faculty from repute organizations also visiting for Guest Lectures as well as for teaching electives. The course structure is good but a bit hectic in the first year especially the first trim. There are regular quizzes and mid-term & end-term exams. If one dedicates a decent amount of time to prepare, one can easily pass the exams.

Internships Opportunities :

Domain-wise Major companies recruiting for Summer Internship are as follows: Strategy: Mckinsey, BCG, Accenture Strategy, Synergy Consulting, Deloitte, etc. Marketing: HUL, Titan, Dabur, Mars, Mondelez, ITC, etc. Finance: JPMC, Goldman Sachs, Crisil, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, etc. Operations: ETG, Olam, OfBusiness, Tata Steel, etc. ProdMan: Microsoft, go-mmt, Yes Bank, etc. Average Stipend (2 months): 2.63 Lacs and Highest Stipend (2 months): 3.75 Lacs

Placement Experience :

First-year students sit for a summer internship from September onwards and the summer placements are usually 2-3 weeks long while the Final Placements occur in the month of November & December lasting for 2-3 weeks as well. Many of the big names in Finance, Marketing, Operations, Trade & Consulting such as JPMC, Goldman Sachs, Mckinsey, BCG, Accenture Strategy, HUL, Dabur, Marico, Mars, ETG, Cargill, etc. come regularly for Summer and Final Placements and are regarded as Legacy Recruiter. Placements have consistently been 100% with statistics for 21-23 batch final placements as 29.1 Lacs Average CTC and 85.4 Lacs Highest CTC. The placement Report can be accessed at the institute's website and Linkedin Handle. Placements are comparable to some of the best Tier-1 B-Schools in the country

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees are comparable to those at IIMs and most of the good private B-schools. There is a provision for scholarships based on reservation as well as annual family income that can be applied with the help of the administration of the institute. The fee payment schedule is good with trim-wise fee payment instead of annual fee payment as practiced in some of the b-schools. The placements are really great with some of the major names in Finance, Marketing, Consulting, and Trade visiting the institute regularly for Summer internships and Final Placements. The average package of the 21-23 batch is around 29.1 Lacs which is comparable to some of the Top Tier-1 B-schools in the country. Ample opportunity is available for students to get placed in their dream companies.

Campus Life :

The campus of IIFT Delhi is located in the heart of South Delhi in Qutab Institutional Area with many B-schools, IIT Delhi, JNU, DU, NCERT, etc. nearby. Hauz Khaas is very near the college premises and students go there during weekends for parties and get-togethers. The campus and nearby area are full of greenery with Sanjay Van located beside the institute. Although the infrastructure is a bit old but very beautifully made with all the necessary amenities like High-Speed Wifi, Projector, and Smart Classrooms, ACs, etc. The library is one of the biggest among B-Schools with the presence of the WTO Study Center and Bloomberg Terminals. Quo Vadis is the annual Cultural and management tech fest organized in February with many management and cultural competitions in which students from various B-Schools take part. Aside from that many other Fests and Initiatives happen regularly such as Trade Winds Annual Summits, Adrenaline (Sports Fest), TEDx, etc. that keep the students engaged.

Hostel Facilities :

There are 4 hostels, one for girls and three for boys. 2 of the boy's hostels are located outside the campus with one being within walking distance while the other one is located around 4.5 km away from the campus with a regular bus being there for transportation needs of the students. The rooms are nice and spacious and have all the required amenities. Mess facilities are available at each hostel with decent healthy food including Veg and Non-Veg Options. One has to opt for Hostel during registration and rooms are allocated basis the ranking. Hostels and Mess Charges are competitive and affordable.

Interview Experience :

After the Entrance exam which consisted mainly of questions of Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge, one has to give an Extempore and PI round with the faculty of IIFT. Extempore topics are based on recent news and general knowledge. PI is mostly focused on the resume of the student and questions on International News and popular topics. Basis the performance in entrance exams, Extempore, PI, and weights assigned to Gender, Education, Work-ex, etc., a composite score is prepared based on which the admission is offered by the institute

The placements are really very good. the average package is 25 lakhs which are quite good if we talk about top MBA colleges. The highest package is offered by Trade companies which is about 80 lakhs at the Dubai location, followed by Trident, Amazon, Microsoft etc. 100% placements are there. My plan is to work for 5-6 years at a reputed firm and then go for a start-up.
