Abhishek Chauhan's Review On Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute Of Management - [LBSIM], New Delhi | collegedunia.com

LBSIM should definitely be on your watch list if you are looking for management colleges.

Remarks :

The admission process is pretty straightforward and streamlined. I applied with my CAT score and received a gd/pi call. Both online and offline options were present. The application form can be found on the institute's website. The selection was informed to me by email as well as on the website. There is nothing I would like to change about the admission process.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Finance was my field of interest since my graduation days. So I was quite clear about the choice of course. The student-to-faculty ratio is quite well. All facilities are Ph.D. holders and most have corporate experience as well. All faculty members have their unique teaching methods. Several methods including the case method are used. Evaluation is done through 60 percent weightage to internals and 40 to end-term exams. 50 percent marks are required in both to clear the exam. Exams are conducted timely and are not very easy or difficult to pass. A good understanding of the subject is required to clear the exam.

Internships Opportunities :

Reputed companies such as EY, Deloitte, Asian paints, Marsh, etc provide internship opportunities. The internship is Mandatory and is part of the summer internship project that is reviewed at the start of the second year.

Placement Experience :

Students become eligible for campus placement in the 4th trimester. Numerous companies such as Asian paints, Deloitte, smart cube, Bane&co, EY, etc visit the campus for placement. There is 100 percent placement for all pgdm students. The average package of 12.30 lakhs and the highest package of 27 lakhs was offered this year.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees hike is nominal considering other Management colleges. The fees have been increased to 14 lakhs from 12.94 lakhs last year when I got admission. Merit cum means a scholarship of rupees 1 lakh is provided. Last year 15 students received this scholarship.

Campus Life :

Tatva is the annual fest of LBSIM it usually takes place in February. The library has a huge collection of both physical and e-books along with journals. All classrooms are equipped with central air conditioning, projectors, whiteboards, and speakers. For sports activities Zenith the sports club is responsible and various competitions are conducted. Clubs for music, drama, social work, mental health, etc are run by Students.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels are not on campus and are managed by third parties. Dual-sharing rooms are provided. The menu is decided mutually by management and students. It's veg with an eggs-only menu. Nonveg meals are not provided. The hostel is mandatory for students outside the NCR region. But NCR students can opt for it too

Interview Experience :

The GD topics were based on general themes that are relevant at that time. Abstract themes like proverbs etc are not that common. In personal interviews, relevant questions relating to your course, your background, etc are asked. I prepared mostly by framing my introduction. Why I want to do MBA and revise some basic concepts related to commerce and finance.

The placements are really very good. the average package is 25 lakhs which are quite good if we talk about top MBA colleges. The highest package is offered by Trade companies which is about 80 lakhs at the Dubai location, followed by Trident, Amazon, Microsoft etc. 100% placements are there. My plan is to work for 5-6 years at a reputed firm and then go for a start-up.
