Piyush Majumdar's Review On Chandigarh University - [CU], Chandigarh | collegedunia.com

Internships and career opportunities

Remarks :

I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer science at CU, the eligibility for this course is 60% and above in the class 12th board exam, and also through CUCET and JEE mains. Anyone can find the application form at www.cuchd.in and need to pay 1000 rupees for registration for admission. In CUCET exam have 100 questions physics, mathematics and computer have equal weightage and English have 10% weightage. A score above 90% marks is equal to a 100% scholarship. The scholarship is also provided on basis of JEE mains marks and 12th board marks. to maintain a scholarship students have to maintain a 7.5 CGPA every year, without any backlogs. After the pandemic, the university started intaking huge numbers of students which are resulting in a huge crowd during college hours.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose Computer science as my major because technology is overtaking every industry after the pandemic, and the future lies on technology, therefore, opting for this course is reliable for the future. Also, Chandigarh University provides specializations in computer science programs like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning(my program), Big Data, Internet of things, Cybersecurity, Gaming technology, Cloud Computing, etc. with association with IBM. Faculty to student ratio is good, and faculty members are qualified mostly to have M.Tech and Ph.D. qualifications. The teaching style is typical of other colleges, with teachers teaching with PowerPoint presentations. There are two Mid Semester exams within equal intervals and one End Semester exam. Mid sem is mostly conducted through online mode and questions are MCQs End Sem is conducted offline which is a pen-and-paper test. The difficulty level of the Mid Sem is more than the end sem. End-semester exams are moderate.

Internships Opportunities :

Microsoft, IBM, Wipro, TCS, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, and many more companies offered the opportunity of an internship with a stipend. Roles offered Debugger, research assistant, assistance application developer, etc. Chandigarh university also has an IEEE community that helps students to get internships and build networks with companies and officials. Special programs are conducted for placement and internships.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. A lot of big companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Palo Alto, Hewlett Packard, Accenture, Hitachi, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Grail Research, TAFE, John Deere, and Schindler visited. Over 6100 offers are made. The highest package secured is 54.75 LPA with an average package of 8 LPA for Computer science. More than 95 percent of students get placed this year. If I secure a package above 10 LPA, I will get some experience with the company and then I will apply for MBA or M.Tech.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is quite reasonable and good, and the scholarship and financial assistance provided by the university make the fee structure affordable if any student grabs a scholarship of 50 % or above. Financial aid is provided by the university, also special aid for reservations is available. Every year the fees for the programs rise by some percent, but the scholarship criteria remain the same. Therefore cost to study is reasonable.

Campus Life :

Chandigarh University is well known for its annual fest and tech fest popularly known as CU Fests during September. Freshers party "AAGHAZ", Tech Event "TECH INVENT" and many more sunburn and Dj fests are hosted regularly. Famous singers, Bollywood celebrities, and famous entrepreneurs are featured in CU Fest. There are libraries in each block and two centralized libraries, the availability of books and journals, and an e-library with internet access. Classrooms are well organized for 80 students, and neat and clean washrooms and corridors, with good water facilities. CU is also famous for sports and has a lot of notable alumni featured in common-wealth games as well as national competitions. University has well-maintained sports grounds and equipments. Extra curricular activities is comparably less. There are a lot of techs and social and even international groups, which benefit from networking and cultural exchange.

CCET has an excellent track record when it comes to placement. The college has a dedicated placement cell that works tirelessly to secure job opportunities for students. Many leading companies across various sectors visit the campus for recruitment, and students have been placed in well-known companies with lucrative packages. In case campus placements are not offered, the college provides ample opportunities for students to enhance their employability through internships and skills development programs.

7th-semester students start having their tests and interviews for placements. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Apple, arcesium, JP Morgan, Airbus, Uber, Flipkart, etc. visit the campus. The highest package this time was 86 lakhs CTC to six students and the average package is 14 lakhs. Mainly they offer coding and finance-related profiles. More or less everyone who sits in the placements gets placed, the percentage is above 90. I also want to get a good placement in an MNC.

Placement Experience:

Placements depend on the reputation and performance of the university, the quality of education and training provided, and the demand for the particular field of study. If a college does not offer campus placements, students can still explore various job opportunities through job portals, job fairs, or by contacting companies directly. They can also opt for higher studies or entrepreneurship. Eligibility: Generally, students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th or 6th semester onwards, depending on the university's policies. The companies that visit a college depend on the reputation and performance of the college and the demand for the particular field of study. Some of the top companies that visit colleges for placements include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Accenture, etc. The number of offers made by these companies varies from college to college. The highest and average packages offered to students during campus placements varies based on performance.

Yes, it's pretty good. I am mentioning a few companies which came for the 2022 batch listed below: DE SHAW GOOGLE INDIA MICROSOFT DELOITTE AMAZON FLIPKART but it all depends on your effort because studies are not so up to date and attendance criteria (75%).so you have to be pro in coding if u want to be in these top-notch tier companies.

Students are eligible from the 6th semester. More than 700 companies visit for placement. Cisco, Google, TCS, Wipro, Servicenow, Mykaarma, Amazon, and many more companies. Each company provides different types of offers. Offers start from 3.5 lakhs to 60 lakhs. It depends on the student's skill and knowledge which offer they take. Companies come for Software development, networking, front-end development, and so on. The highest package of last year is rs 63 lakh and the average placement is of 5 lakhs. More than 90 percent of students get placed. My plan after getting a degree are to get placed in a reputed company with the best package.
