Comparably Anna University is better than Amrita University. It is a state government university and changes a lower course fee. The institute offers great academics. The university has a great alumni network. Anna University notable alumni list incudes name like A. P. J. Abdul Kalam- Former President of India & Bharat Ratna awardee, Venu Srinivasan - Chairman of Sundaram, Sujatha Rangarajan - Writer.

However, being a private university Amrita offers better infrastructure.

When you do a direct comparison between these two universities, you will realize that Anna University is a state government college whereas Amrita University is a privately deemed institute. If you are mainly concerned about the infrastructure, Amrita University is definitely better as it is well funded and a private and independent institute.

However, this does not mean that Anna University is not good. The main campus consists of CEG, A C Tech, MIT, and SAP and has a strong place in history. Quite a few renowned personalities were its alumni.

Additionally, if you are also concerned about fees, State Universities are always more affordable as compared to private ones.
