Studied at MICA, Ahmedabad

MICA, or Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad, is a premier institute in India known for its excellence in the fields of Media, Advertising, and Market Research. Graduates from MICA are highly sought after by employers in these industries and are often preferred over those from higher-ranked institutions. This is due to the institute's reputation for providing students with a strong foundation in these fields through its rigorous curriculum, industry-relevant courses, and practical training.

In the media industry, graduates from MICA are known for their expertise in strategic planning, brand management, and media buying and planning. They are also well-equipped to work in the fields of advertising, digital marketing, and communication research. MICA has a strong alumni network of industry leaders, which helps students to secure internships and job opportunities post-graduation.

However, it's also important to note that MICA graduates are successful in other industries as well such as FMCG, Telecom, E-commerce, and more. The institute's curriculum is designed to provide students with a holistic understanding of the business environment, which equips them with the skills necessary to excel in various industries. Many of the alumni have also gone on to start their own businesses and become entrepreneurs.

When considering MICA as an option for your post-graduation studies, it's important to take into account all of the available options and weigh the pros and cons. Researching the institute's curriculum, faculty, and alumni network, as well as speaking to current students and alumni can help you to make an informed decision. Additionally, it would be a good idea to seek the opinion of professionals in the field you are interested in, as they can provide valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of different career paths.

IMT-G

Both MICA and IMT-G are reputed management institutes. Below is the comparison between both MICA and IMT-G.

Placements:

  • IMT has great placements for the top 30% of the batch but the last 30% have a fairly tough time and at MICA, the disparity is much little in comparison and almost every student gets a package in the same range.
  • IMT-G is better than MICA when it comes to average, median, or highest packages.

Particulars

MICA

IMT-G

Median Salary

Rs. 10 lakhs

Rs. 12 lakhs

Highest Salary

Rs. 25 lakhs

Rs. 24 lakhs

Campus life:

  • The campus life of MICA is known to be better, as there is more scope to explore extracurriculars, sports and the sense of community is much stronger.
  • In IMT the student is required to do extracurriculars to complete the credits.
  • IMT is more competitive than MICA so the students end up living fewer memorable moments at IMT but someone who is focused and knows how to have fun can find his way anywhere.

Learning:

At MICA, learning is known to be more inspiring and all-rounders whereas IMT learning is more focused.

Location:

  • IMT is located in Ghaziabad and it is always more comfortable to network with the companies based in Delhi.
  • MICA also counterpoises the location by making serious efforts for getting the right industry exposure to Ahmedabad.

Brand equity:

IMT is a better-known brand than MICA, but MICA accumulates more regard in the industry by the people who know about marketing and advertising.

Batch strength:

  • MICA has a small batch strength of 180 students.
  • This means more attention, more scope to stand out, better scope to network, and a better shot at placement.

Faculty strength

Most of the IMT faculty is known to be specializing in marketing whereas MICA brings in marketing professionals.

Overall, MICA is the potential choice if you are willing to pursue advertising, marketing, and communication. Whereas for a relatively safe MBA go for IMT-G.
