Comparing competitive exams or choosing one over the other is a very illogical thing to do. The entire agenda behind a competitive exam is to build your knowledge and test you on the basis of the same. So unless you defer from gaining the right set of knowledge, any competitive exam will bear the same result.

I have a very effective technique to tackle this issue. Prepare in such a way that you are appearing for JEE Advanced. This is because the course and structure of Advanced are such that once you are ready to clear that, you can clear every other exam too. This means your focus will not be divided and all you can do is focus on one exam.

Keep focusing on the preparation for JEE Advanced and when your BITSAT is around the corner start solving mock tests to improve your speed. Prepare additionally for English and Logical Reasoning questions. BITSAT focuses more on your speed than the clarity of your concepts. So a mere preparation of 3 months before BITSAT is more than enough provided that your concepts are clear from JEE Advanced preparation.

So instead of choosing one single exam, prepare for JEE Advanced and target both as the future is unpredictable.

There is no clear winner between JEE & BITSAT. But if you have to choose one examination, choose JEE. The reason is pretty simple. JEE Main is the basic examination fr engineering. It will give you more choices - NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, private colleges, state-level colleges, etc. While only three colleges, i.e. BITS Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad accept BITSAT scores. JEE has two sessions. If your first attempt doesn’t go well, you can prepare for the next accordingly.

If you prepare diligently for JEE, you can take BITSAT as well. Since these examinations follow a similar syllabus.

Both JEE and BITSAT are competitive entrances and comparing the two is not a good decision. Instead, try to focus on understanding the basics and concepts since the syllabus for the two entrances is pretty much the same. If you prepare religiously for JEE Advanced then you will be able to ace all engineering entrance exams including JEE Main and BITSAT.

The table given below gives a brief comparison of the exams:

JEE Preparation:

  • JEE Advanced paper includes questions primarily from Physics, Chemistry and Maths, thus, try to give these topics enough time and practice.
  • While it is best to focus on JEE Advanced, it is equally important to prepare for BITSAT since the exam syllabus contains not only Physics, Chemistry, and Maths but also English and Logical Reasoning.

BITSAT Preparation:

  • Cracking BITSAT is all about technique and speed so try to practice online mock tests, previous year papers, and cover topics like English and Logical Reasoning to score better in the exams.
  • You should devote at least 3 months to BITSAT, three months are enough if you have a clear understanding of your basics and a strong foundation.

Try not to compare the two exams; instead, focus on clearing your basics with the aim of cracking JEE Advanced so that you can score well in both JEE and BITSAT.
