The SWOT framework can assist you in developing a better strategy for topics to ace and topics to avoid. 5 months is enough time to cover almost all topics. The risk, however, is in maintaining motivation and not becoming unmotivated and impatient.

When you only have one task to complete, your mind tends to wander more. If you're capable of doing that, 5 months of preparation should be enough to ace the CAT and get through IIM.

Yes, many aspirants had cracked the IIM interviews after taking a break in their careers. You should have a valid reason that should be acceptable in the interviews and justifies the reason in front of the interviewer.

There are often some UPSC aspirants with a 2-year break who have cracked IIM interviews because they used their time in reading and thus talked about the same with the panelists. Similarly, you can also justify your break by talking about what you had learned in that period of time.

It would not be advisable to say that you were only preparing for the CAT in the interviews as there might be some candidates who have scored well in CAT without taking any break. It will only weaken your profile.

Therefore, it is important to find an authentic and genuine reason that justifies the gap so that you can easily crack the IIM Interview.
