Which is better for computer engineering: Vidyalankar Institute of Technology or KJ Somaiya?

AD
Akhil Desai Posted On : September 4th, 2021
B.Tech Information Technology, K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering (2021)

I have friends from both Vidyalankar Institute of Technology and KJ Somaiya. Based on the conversations I had with them, I will suggest you choose KJ Somaiya for a CS degree.

Here are some of the reasons why you should prefer KJ CE/IT over Vidyalankar CE /IT.

  • KJ Somaiya is an autonomous institute. So their course curriculum is quite flexible.
  • Vacations will be quite long. You can utilize this time to do internships in some IT firms.
  • The CS and IT department of KJ Somaiya has amazing CSI and other councils working for them.
  • KJ Somaiya has a vast campus. The sports facilities offered at the institute are also quite great.
  • The placement average for KJSCE is 100% for CS IT branches. As it is an autonomous institute more recruiting companies visit the institute for placements.

Vidyalankar is not a bad choice either. Both colleges have their own advantages. Here is a brief comparison of the two institutes.

Parameters  KJ Somaiya Vidyalankar Institute of Technology
Average CTC  5 LPA  4.16 LPA
Highest CTC 18.75 LPA  7 LPA
Major recruiters  Microsoft, IBM, Vodafone TCS, Just Dial, Axis Bank
Course fee  11.35 lakhs  6.03 lakhs

You should do your own research on the institute and choose according to your convenience.

I got a CS in IIT Delhi and an MBBS in Haldwani Medical College. Which should I choose?

DS
Dipti Sinha Posted On : April 1st, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (2022)

This is a very common debate sparked among aspirants who aren't sure of which field to enter that will shape their career in the best possible way. While the final decision can be taken by the individual itself, a few basic points of comparison below might help you make a more informed decision.

  • Engineering covers a short duration of 4 years while Medical requires a long commitment of 6-7 years.
  • Engineering is no doubt easier than medicine and has more practical concepts while medical studies require mugging up of thick books
  • The job opportunities in Engineering are highly competitive due to the large supply whereas medical professionals are in high demand due to short supply
  • Job stability is higher for medical professionals than engineers
  • The working environment of medical professionals is very challenging and unpredictable whereas engineers have a relatively smooth working environment.
  • Very few and demanding higher study options are available in the medical field whereas engineering has a lot of higher study options like master's, Ph.D., and MBA
  • Engineers usually work under other higher authorities while medical professionals set up their private practices quite early.
  • There are more options for engineers to settle abroad than Medical professionals.
  • As an engineer, you keep learning and upgrading your skills throughout your life while doctors learn once and spend the rest of their life practicing what they have learned.

Both fields offer contrasting opportunities and lifestyles and ultimately you need to choose the one that inclines with the expectations of your future.

What is the cut off rank to get btech in CSE in MPSTME,NMIMS through NPAT?

AG
Anita Guha Posted On : January 25th, 2022
studied at Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering, NMIMS

It entirely depends on the vacancy. There is no such cutoff system. If you can secure a good rank, i.e. within the top 300, then you can go for the CSE branch. Otherwise, it entirely depends on the vacancy. If you get a rank of around 1500-3000, and you want  IT or CE, chances of getting admission are low, as most students choose these courses. However, in the counseling, they give a form in which you can fill out your choice of branch and if there are any vacancies later, you can upgrade your branch.

If you're considering pursuing a Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program in India, you might be interested in comparing the offerings of different institutions. If you're wondering which one of these options, Jaypee Noida (sector-62) or UIET, Chandigarh (Panjab University) might be better for you, here are some reasons why Jaypee Noida might be a good choice:

You'll have access to well-equipped labs, libraries, and other resources that can enhance your learning experience. In addition, the faculty members are reputed in their respective fields and can provide you with valuable guidance and support throughout your academic journey.
  • Location: Another advantage of Jaypee Noida is its location. The institute is situated in Noida, which is a part of the National Capital Region (NCR) of India. If you perform well in the program and maintain a decent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), you'll have a good chance of getting placed in a reputed company with a decent package. It's important to note that a CGPA of above 7 is generally recommended for good placements, and anything above 7.5 can be considered excellent.

The faculty members and the Head of Department (HOD) at Jaypee Noida are known to be supportive of talented students, and can help you connect with relevant companies for internships and placements. With their guidance and your skills, you may even land a placement in a high-paying startup or company.

With its strong faculty, facilities, and industry connections, you can get a solid foundation for a career in the IT sector. However, as with any program, it's important to do your research, consider your own interests and strengths, and make an informed decision based on your individual needs and goals.
