What should I choose, CSE at NIT Manipur or ECE at NIT Agartala and NIT Meghalaya?

NIT Manipur ranks 158th for BTech by NIRF 2020. It is recognized by UGC and AICTE. It has a 300+ acres campus area. It has a faculty strength of 70 members most of them being highly qualified and PhD holders.

NIT Agartala is ranked 75 for BTech by NIRF 2020. The institute has a strength of 3101 students and a highly qualified faculty of 2450 members.

NIT Meghalaya ranks 61st for BTech by NIRF 2020. 104 students were placed in the 2018-2019 placement program conducted by the institute. It is accredited by AICTE.

Admission Requirements -

Applicants should have at least 75% in their 10+2 qualifying exams with PCM with a valid score in JEE Main.
For MTech applicants 60% in BTech or BE is required with a GATE score.
Selection will be based on the rank obtained in the entrance exams.

The companies are Microsoft, Wipro, Accenture, Infosys, IBM, Capgemini, Adobe, HSBC, TCS, Zolacode, Lamzing Infosystem, Virtusa, etc.

NIT Agartala

22 companies participated in the placement program.
188 students were placed.
The recruiting companies include Accenture, IBM, McAfee, Google and Morgan Stanley.

NIT Meghalaya

80 companies participated in the placement program.
103 offers were made.
Top Companies like Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, Bosch, Vedanta, Cortex, Sapient, Polaris and many more participated in the placement program of NIT Meghalaya.

Facilities

NIT Manipur

They have 2 boys and 1 girls hostel with sports grounds, courts and healthcare facilities.
The campus has a central library.
It also consists of an ATM.

NIT Agartala

The institute has a faculty of 239 members, 160 of them being PhD holders.
There are 6 boys hostels and 2 girls hostels.
The campus also includes a canteen, an ATM and a Bank. They also have necessary medical facilities.

NIT Meghalaya

It has a 300 acres of campus area.
They have a faculty of 93 members 85 of them being PhD holders.
They have a central library, computer centres, state of art classrooms, healthcare and sports facilities.

Students pursuing ECE can work as Electronics Engineer, Field Test Engineer, Network Planning Engineer, Electronics and Communications Consultant, Research and Development Software Engineer. NIT Nagaland has a NIRF 2020 rank of 67 and NIT Agartala has a rank of 52 in the engineering category. NIT Nagaland is an autonomous institution recognized by AICTE and UGC whereas NIT Agartala is a government institute that is to be a deemed university.

Admission-

To be eligible for admission, students are expected to have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 75% along with their JEE Main score.

For NIT Agartala, for programs like B.Tech, the total fees are in the range of Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 6 lakhs.
At NIT Nagaland, the total fees for programs like B.Tech lie in the range of Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 4 lakhs respectively.

JEE Main cutoff 2019 -

NIT Agartala - For the PE branch it was 28827 and 33637 as the opening and closing rank respectively for the General category. For reserved categories, the opening and closing ranks were 2763 and 11083 respectively.
NIT Nagaland - For the ME branch it was 27146 and 29838 as the opening and closing rank respectively for General category students from other states. For reserved categories, the opening and closing ranks were 1896 and 7826 respectively for students from other states.

Placement -

For NIT Agartala, the median CTC was Rs. 5.5 LPA and saw 188 students being placed overall. The highest offered CTC was from Works Applications.
For NIT Nagaland, Allstate, Power Grid, Lakshaya, Vedanta, L&T, Toppers, Mphasis, were the top recruiters.
The major recruiters for NIT Agartala were L&T Infotech, Vedanta, Future Group, Havells, Axis Bank, ABB Limited, Samsung.

Both these branches are completely different in terms of the course content and then the future job description as well, so the important thing here is to know what you want and how you want to shape your future.

Comparison:

If you are interested in coding then you should go for IT at UIET where you may not have the most appealing packages but if you do great in that college with good grades in all 4 years then you will definitely land a well-paying job at a company like TCS or Infosys.
If you choose to do production engineering at NIT Agartala then there are some things that should be kept in mind, the branch itself isn’t well established and is average when you talk about faculties and the overall quality.
However, the NIT tag will be beneficial for your career throughout your professional life.
In NIT Agartala if you want to change your branch from Production Engineering to CSE or ECE, you need to maintain a minimum CGPA of 8.5 in the 1st semester. It also depends on the availability of seats in the branches that you are applying for.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology CSE is better compared to NIT Agartala ECE. It offers better placements. MAKAUT Kolkata placements are great for CSE. Each year around 85% of students get placed from the branch. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 4 LPA. While the highest CTC goes up to around INR 14 LPA. Major companies such as IBM, Infosys, Wipro, etc. recruit from MAKAUT.
