Which is best for mechanical engineering, Nirma University or NIT Srinagar or North East NITs?

GS
Gargi Sengupta Posted On : July 6th, 2021
B.Tech Civil Engineering, Institute Of Technology, Nirma University (2020)

NIT Srinagar is the best option among the ones mentioned in the question. But living in Srinagar is challenging. If you can deal with frequent disruption and non-functionality of the institute then you can choose NIT Srinagar.

Nirma University can be a good alternative too. It is one of the best engineering colleges in Gujarat as well as India. As it is located on the Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad highway, many reputed MNCs visit the campus. Nirma has a 120-acre campus. It offers good infrastructure. Their placement record is also quite impressive. Almost 90% of students get placed in reputed companies. The only disadvantage of choosing Nirma is that they don’t offer a hostel.

In North-East, you can go with Agartala or Silchar.

Which college should I choose, GEC Thrissur or Amrita University Coimbatore?

RG
Rajashree Ghosh Posted On : July 6th, 2021
Studied at IIJNM Bangalore (2019)

You can go to Amrita University without any doubt. Being a new generation college, people now think differently and do not opt for Government colleges just for their reputation.

A lot of my friends recently graduated from NIT Trichy in CSE while some who graduated from Amrita University are doing quite well.

According to my friend at Amrita, the environment is free and lenient. Furthermore, recently he won the 4th hackathon with his peers (team of 4) and his team was different in all 4 hackathons.

Categories Amrita University
Placement Percentage (overall) 85%
Highest CTC 28 LPA
Average CTC 8-10 LPA
Recruiting Companies Infosys, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, etc.

I hope it would be easier to come to a clear conclusion of which college to opt for. Choose Amrita if you aren’t getting your desired branch in IITs, NITs, or BITS. But, if you opt for Amrita University I assure you, you won’t regret it.

Which is better for CS, AIACTR, MAIT, or MSIT?

SG
Shinjini Ghosh Posted On : July 8th, 2021
Studied at Calcutta University (2019)

A few of my friends graduated from AIACTR, MAIT, and MSIT. Here are some facts about these colleges, which might help you make a proper choice.

AIACTR –

  • Being a government college AIACTR lags in placements because fewer efforts are made by the Training and Placement Officer.
  • After a semester, you will also realize that the results of internals and practicals sent by the faculty of AIACTR are fewer marks as compared to MAIT and MSIT.

MAIT and MSIT –

  • While coming to a comparison between MAIT and MSIT there are a lot of factors like distance from your home and others.
  • In MAIT, there are no attendance issues while at MSIT the attendance issues are a little strict. You have to maintain at least 60% attendance at MSIT.
  • Academic wise MSIT is far ahead of MAIT.
  • MSIT has a better placement record with an average salary of around INR 13 LPA while at MAIT it is INR 7 LPA.
Categories AIACTR MAIT MSIT
Course Fee 38,000 (1st year) 5.73 lakh 4.69 lakh
Highest CTC 15 LPA 23 LPA 21 LPA
Average CTC 8 LPA 12 LPA 10 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, Havells, Wipro, Infosys, etc. Accenture, HP, TCS, HCL, etc. Bosch, Crisil, IBM, ITC, etc.

MSIT is a good option if the infrastructure and strict attendance are not your major concern. If so you can easily opt for MSIT over the other two. However, make the wise decision considering other factors too.

How is BIT Jaipur compared to Nirma University and UIET Chandigarh?

AD
Alok Debnath Posted On : October 20th, 2020
B.E in Computer Science, Birla Institute of Technology Jaipur (Graduated 2016)

It’s difficult to determine which institute is better as the courses are not mentioned for the given college. However, given below are information about the colleges which may help you make the decision.

Admissions:

  • BIT Jaipur: If a student wants to take admission to the college they need to secure at least 45% in class 10+2 exams with PCM. For the B.E program the admissions are by Joint Seat Allotment Authority (JOSAA).
  • Nirma University: The criteria for every course is different. But mostly the university accepts common exams like JEE Mains, CLAT, GATE, CAT, and MAT. Apart from that the college also does take admissions through merits.
  • UIET Chandigarh: The admissions of the course B.E and M.E is done on the basis of entrance exams. However, the minimum criteria for an applicant to apply for admissions is to pass class 10+2 exams with at least 45% of marks in PCM.

Faculty

  • BIT Jaipur: Most of the faculty are Ph.D. while others are pursuing. The classes are never boring because of the interactive sessions held by the faculty.
  • Nirma University: As being one of the oldest colleges in the state, the faculty of the college is well experienced and well versed with the subjects that they teach.
  • UIET Chandigarh: There are a total of 8 core members in the college out of which three of them are Ph.D. holders.

Placement

  • BIT Jaipur: There were a total of 23 companies present. The highest package that was offered was INR 23 LPA while the average package was INR 6.47 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, Info Objects, and Reliance Jio.
  • Nirma University: The university had a placement percentage of 95. The highest CTC that was offered was Rs 16.6 LPA and the average CTC that was recorded was 8.2 LPA. The top recruiting sector was ITES.
  • UIET Chandigarh: The top recruiters that visit the college include; Goldman sacs, Amazon, Samsung, Airtel, and Deloitte. The median percentage placed every year is around 80%.

Therefore, if a choice has to be made by the student, he/she can look at the above parameters mentioned.

Which college should I choose among NIT Nagpur and NIT Surathkal?

NS
Neetu Shastri Posted On : June 22nd, 2021
M.A. from Jadavpur University (2018)

One of my friends is an alumnus of NIT Surathkal and was in awe of it since the beginning of his academic program.

  • That institute is better than most in terms of campus life, placement, rank, and other essential parameters.
  • It has a 90% placement rate in 2020 and ranks #13 on the NIRF ranking portal.
  • Despite its excellence, my friend used to say that if you have a choice available, don’t go for NIT.
  • Over the years it will come to your notice that the whole system is a scam, and although it has excellent facilities and good basics it's really overhyped.
  • You'll find that any other good engineering college will have equal or better opportunities for you.
  • If you can, try taking admission to a university that supports your dreams, which is the right fit for you - do not opt by just checking the placement rates. As it is untrue.

Another friend of mine was in the third year of chemical engineering in NIT Nagpur and felt as if he did not gain any technical knowledge after studying for three years. This is something overlooked by most 'excellent' universities across India and they do not allow students to question it. Therefore, if you have a better option available- go for that, not any NIT.

VG
Vishal Garg Posted On : January 12th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (2020)

Between MSIT ECE and MAIT EEE, the former is the better alternative. As a branch ECE has better future prospects than EEE. You have to work hard to secure a decent placement opportunity in the field of EEE.

The table below shows a brief comparison between the MSIT ECE and MAIT EEE.

Particulars

MSIT ECE

MAIT EEE

Average CTC

3-4 LPA

4-5 LPA

Highest CTC

12 LPA

10 LPA

Placement Average

70-80%

30%

Top Recruiters

TCS, Accenture, Infosys

Wipro, Godrej

Course Fee

4.01 lakhs

4.69 lakhs

Discussed below are some points that you need to consider.

  • In the current industry scenario, there is more demand for proficient ECE graduates.
  • Both MSIT and MAIT are reputed IPU colleges that offer quality education in the field of Engineering. There is also not much difference between the two institutes. So, it will be better to prioritize the batch.
  • Although in MAIT you will have the chance to upgrade your branch to ECE, CSE, or IT from EEE.

I will suggest you to choose MSIT ECE.

Studied at Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior (2021)

I have few friends at both IIITM Gwalior and IIITDM Jabalpur. Based on the conversation I had with them, I will say IIITM Gwalior is the better option for CSE.

The faculty at IIITM Gwalior is great. Most of the faculty members have Ph.D. The placement record of IIITM Gwalior is also quite impressive.

Here are the recent placement statistics for the institute.

Institute

IIITDM, Jabalpur

IIITM, Gwalior

Average CTC

INR. 9.9 LPA

INR. 24.33 LPA

Highest CTC

INR. 23 LPA

INR. 42 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Amazon, Microsoft, IBM-ISL, Samsung R&D, Ericsson Global, ThoughtWorks

Flamingo, Microsoft, CodeSpeedy Technology Private Limited, Amazon

IIITM Gwalior ranks better than IIITDM Jabalpur on almost all platforms. It also has a better coding culture. You can check the institute ranking on SPOJ to have a better idea about the coding culture on campus.

If I am interested in Programming should I choose ECE at IIIT Allahabad or IIIT Bangalore, if yes which one should I prefer IIIT A or B? (Of course I am not getting CSE in good college)

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : October 19th, 2023

Here is some information to assist you in choice-making-

IIT Dhanbad Mechanical is the best option among the three. This college has a rich legacy and a strong brand value. Apart from that, it offers good placements with brands like Tata visiting the campus for recruitment purposes.

But if you have an interest in Electrical, you can opt for IIT Tirupati. Unlike before, the college is now functioning from its permanent campus. The permanent campus is destined to house 12,500 students. It is under construction in phases, but it already houses 1500+ students at present.

Therefore, IIT Dhanbad Mechanical is the best choice. But if Electrical interests you, opt for IIT Tirupati Electrical.
